True Story
« on: March 07, 2014, 04:13:19 PM »
This is a true story, told to my brother by a sales rep who called on the jeweler below.

Dallas, Tx, Christmas 1996:

A lady walked into a upscale jewelry store, looking at rings. She found a very nice sapphire and diamond ring. It was $20,000. She told the jeweler, "I am going to send my boyfriend in to buy this ring. He will not argue about the price, and will pay cash. I would like 10% for bringing this business to your store. The jeweler readily agreed.

The boyfriend came in, bought the ring, paid cash. A few days later, the lady came to the store, wearing the ring. The jeweler handed her $2,000 cash as discussed.

"Now", she says..."This is my ring, correct?" Yes ma'm, says the jeweler. "Well, I would like for you to place it back in your showcase. I will send my HUSBAND in to buy this ring. He will not argue about the price, and will pay cash. I will give you $5,000 for your trouble, you will give me the rest."

Sure enough, next day, in comes the husband. Pays the 20K in cash. Jeweler has sold the same ring twice, made money both times... he's happy. Lady's happy, she has 17K cash plus the ring of her dreams..... which she can wear in the presence of her husband AND her boyfriend

Maybe we shouldn't call her  "lady"

This case is kinda sad....but maybe poetic justice on her part, you never know. One way or the other....that's a shrewd person.

Reminds me of one of dad's favorite jokes.

"Do you know the greatest thing about prostitution?"

You sell it....but you still got it!!

It's more like renting it Scott!    Whats that saying?  Drive it like you rented it? :)
