This is the location of the access. Ive got a relatively new rancor filter, I really don't think thats it, but there inexpensive enough.. Slvring, I know there are outfits out there that clean tanks, I don't plan on doing this myself, just want to know how they go about doing it. Also, the sending unit is just about as difficult to get to as the anti siphon valve.
Appreciate ya

I would imagine the fuel is removed through the sender opening. It would be the logical point of entry.
Getting at it appears a little tougher than most in your case.
Oh, and here's the movie.

So I cut out the deck to install a bigger hatch. First thing I checked was the gas. I pulled the sending unit and the tank is indeed a quarter full. I pulled up the pick up tube and expected to see the anti siphon somewhere inline there, but there was just a copper tube with screen on the end of it. I blew everything out, by mouth. The line from the primer bulb to the water separator, (which i disconnected), and on the other side of the separator I blew it out to the pick up tube. Everything seemed free. Yesterday when I attempted to blow back to the pick up tube from the primer bulb, (back side), I got nothing. Thought for sure there was an anti siphon valve......Anyways, started her up with ear muffs. Runnin great. Was a bugger to get the fuel up the line with the primer bulb since everything was cleared, but when it did, the primer bulb firmed up nice.
Couldn't have done it without you guys
Thanks

I slightly offset this hatch on purpose to maximize my access to the pick up tub and sending unit

If there is a anti siphon valve it should be in the piece that your shutoff valve is connected to. It is normally inside the fitting that goes to the 90 degree. If it is in there you can replace it with a 3/8 from Home Depot. Looks great and having a large enough hatch makes life soooooooo much easier.

Don't for get to seal the edges of that wood with a couple layers of Epoxy before you put that hatch in.

Kevin beat me to it. Your deck is clearly cored with end grain balsa. You have to seal the edges with epoxy. Don't depend on the caulk to do that job for you since it WILL leak. If you don't the core will get wet and start to rot. I don't want to see you having to rip out your deck a year from now. Replacing a deck in a 215 Explorer would not be fun. Sealing the edges with epoxy is the bare
minimum
. If it were my boat I'd dig out about 3/8" of the balsa core. Then seal it with a good epoxy quality. This will allow the epoxy to soak into the wood. Allow that to set up. Then mix up some thickened epoxy to the consistency of thick peanut butter. You can use cabosil or milled fibers to thicken it. Then use the thickened epoxy to fill in the edges where you dug out the core. This will not only protect your deck core but strengthen the area.

Appreciate it. I'll route out the edge with a dremmel or maybe even a small, hand held router i've got. I'll figure something out. Then seal as recomended
