Pre Christmas fishing trip
« on: December 23, 2013, 10:49:13 AM »
Buddy called Sat. morn and wanted to take his boat out for the weekend.
Weather was less then ideal, mids 30s and raining but we weren't going to be exactly roughing it.
This photo is from a couple years ago.

This be my buds boat 48' Coastal Craft, aluminum, twin 435 horse Volvo pod drives. Damn thing cruises at 30 MPH.
If you are going in rotten weather might just as well stay warm

Boat actually fishes really well

Captain with a winter Chinook

My younger brother was along

Hey Bob, how would you like to wire in that mess

Anyways catching was really good and it was a great way to spend a quick weekend on the salt before Christmas.
Back to work so I can relax

Sweet ride Bill...and a damn comfy fishing platform if I do say so myself!  Nice to go in and grab a latte when it gets a bit too nippy...did I just say that??

Bill, wiring big boats is a WHOLE lot easier than wiring 22 footers.  Good builders will plan their wire runs and chases, it's just a matter of getting the cables where you need them.  Today's electronics?  All plug and play, especially N2K stuff, which most of what I see in the pics are.  The Tracvision is only for the TVs, if you want to tie TV into the Raymarine HUs, there are neat little boxes to do that, as Raymarine, Garmin, and others have video in/out ports, let you view on the bigscreen down below or on the laptop.

BTW, that is a really slick mount for the Tracvision/radome/all around light!  That had to cost a pretty penny!  And that tallest module...says Volvo Penta on the side.  GPS for spot holding?  Kinda like Merc's Sky Anchor?

Yeah Bob, he calls it a anchorless anchoring system. You pull up to dock, set it, jump off the boat and tie up.
Its got FLIR night vision also .

Last time I was out in it was better then a year ago and we blew a engine
I be either bad or good luck, bad cause I was along when it blew or good cause there was still 5 days left on the Volvo warranty when she blew.

SeaBob you should see the big antenna towers my buddy at Pipe Welders /HSI makes for Marlow yachts.  BIG BIG money.  He made a folding radar mast for a Marlow just so it can go under one bridge on the great circle route.  He was test folding it down the other day when he fell off the ladder!  The mast dropped forward almost smashing a 15K radar!
