Rich, I see that Seastar cylinder box there (could be a Baystar cylinder)...are you gonna tee into your existing hyd steering so you can steer the kicker from the helm?  Oh, and while you're in there, cut off your trim tab hoses at the nuts and get some new compression nuts.  Just makes the pump look prettier...

     Yes you are correct, it is a seastar unit, and I had it tied into the steering so the kicker will steer at the same rate as the rudders. Most of the guys up here run a system where they have a separate valve they need to turn before being able to steer with the kicker, then the rudders do not steer. I wanted both steering all the time so I will have better control at slow trolling speeds. As far as the trim tabs, the marina that I am having do the work redone whatever needed to be done. I have not really had the opportunity to really get in there and see what was actually done. I will be inside it Sunday so I will look closer. Looks like a splash down for Tuesday, the weather and winds are not looking good until Tuesday. I will post more pics after Sunday.

She is a fish catching machine in her new home, the sweet water is where she will stay for a long time!!! I have over 50 hours on the kicker now, and what a match up with the jack plate. I was out yesterday in 2-5 footers which are sloppy, close together unlike the ocean. With the swim platform split, I am able to change the oil right on the water, no haul out!!!! I have had a lot of compliments on the new rig, I will post some pics in a little while. I am hoping to install floscan next year, but running 3000 with 3/4 fuel and 7 adults I am getting 21-23 mph, she will scoot, come out the hole quick, what a great hull!!! Will try to get some video this summer.

Thanks guys,  it is fun when you have a platform that gives this much room, and is stable. The only thing I have to figure out is how to mount a rocket launcher on the top. But that will come in time, throwing many ideas around, just have not come up with the right one yet. lol More pics to come, I will take some pics of the finished kicker assembly and the swim platform.

Rich, what about one that has mounting pads on the ends of the cross piece, t/bolt it to the glass top?  Have the rod holder supports come out far enough and angled downward so that the rod holders not only clear the aft edge of the top, but that you can reach them as well...

That could be a possibilty, the only thing I have to take into account is the height. I would not have any problems, but one thing I would like to stay away from is angling the rods back toward the transom. We are using some rods that are 10' long, and hate it when fighting a fish rod tips hitting each other. I see some boats that have the cockpit cover by rods angled backwards.I was thinking about seeing if I could find some type of tubing clamp where I could mount a piece of railing, and then add a T and a 8' piece of railing to mount holders. I will see what I can come up with. If you have any other ideas, throw them my way, pics would be great too!!! Thanks for your ideas.

Never been salmon fishing, so was wondering....

How many rods do you fish, how are the depths staggered, how many downrigger balls, and what are the weights of the balls?

And do you pull side planers too?

I shudder to think what happens if my typical luck prevails and everything gets crossed up

I set the boat up with 3 riggers, tracks for moving rod holders around, and I do run side planers. In the spring, like now, I run up to 12 lines. 3 on the riggers, 2 dipseys, 3 lines on each planer, and a chute rod. We run alot of leadcore, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 colors, plus full cores, which covers the water column from 5-50', run the riggers from 2'-150' down, depending where temp is. When late summer comes, we run 3 riggers, 2-4 dipseys, and up to 5 coppers. If the kings are deep, 120' plus down, then we run 3 riggers,2-4 dipseys and 3 coppers. Copper sink rate is appro 22' per 100' of copper line, we run 100-600' coppers, so needless to say, the number of rods we have onboard is large. lol He who dies with the most toys wins, right???  My rigger weights run from 8lbs to 15lbs right now, I am looking at possibly adding some 20lbers to the arsenal. When we deploy the riggers, one has a temp/speed probe which tells me what my down temp and speed are, fishing blind if you don't have one. We have some bad currents on the east end of the lake, which can and do raise havoc with rigger cables and lines. The past couple of weeks we have been fishing from 180-300 fow, but only fishing the top 40', I have not seen temps this cold in as long as I can remember. Right now we should have a Thermocline setup, which makes the fishing a little easier, as far as where to start, but we are just out searching until we find a temp break and then it is usually game on.
   If you are ever up this way, give me a shout and we will get out after these awesome brutes. Lake Ontario is a world class fishery, the last I knew we had the 3rd largest average behind Alaska and BC for size of King Salmon.   Sorry, have been away from the forum, but yes, TY Bob that is the plate I used. It works great, can't wait to get her back in the water!!!
