Replacement Latch

Just want to share an option if you need to replace the latch on the deck hatch in the front of the boat.  Mine is on a 205 Osprey, but I assume other sizes use similar latches.  The handles on the original latches are a cast material that is not too strong.  This new latch is a stainless Taco F16-3000.  It is meant for a slightly thicker material, so I had to fabricate a 1/4" thick starboard donut to make it work.  You have to order the backing plate separately.  I got both from Pier Supply.

They are proud of these latches    A hatch of any size should have two I'm thinking just to keep it from bowing - $72 / hatch

Speaking of stainless....I'm disappointed in some of my new "advertised as" 316L stain-less screws, bolts, hardware, fittings, etc.  Some does pretty good....some not so much, and others terrible. All high dollar, supposedly the good stuff.

If were to do it again...would spec chrome on bronze as first and best choice wherever possible.
