Fuel Fill hose on a 1984 222WT Sandpiper
« on: July 31, 2013, 04:27:31 PM »
One of the previous owners installed the fuel fill in the center of the floor, and by passed the fuel fill and vent on the side of the boat. What is the best way to go back to the side fill and vent? Does anyone have the hull diagram for this model? Or the best way to fix this? I am thinking that I have to remove the floor to gain access.

Thanks
Kevin

The PO might have had a leak and decided to bypass the original side fill position.

I would assume that it is laid out like my CCP.  A picture would be of great help    That being said, there should be a pie plate right under the original filler cap.  This only allows access to remove or hook up the hose.  The hose should run down the starboard side gunnell and under the deck into the coffin where the tank is.  If it is like mine, in order to remove the hose, you will have to cut a small section of the deck to gain access.  The hose is most likely packed in that foam

Even if you could pull the old hose out through the coffin, there would be no way to run a new hose under that deck with the foam as well as making the turn upward.
