Console cover
« on: July 23, 2011, 11:07:51 AM »
I have a 175 Osprey and have been using a white vinyl console cover that is okay but I would like to find one big enough to cover the seat/bait well ahead of the wind shield as well as the console.

Anybody know a source?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Go to Slowe's and check out the jumbo grill covers. They're UV resistant too.

I used a grill cover from Dollar General for years.  I think it was like six years before it started falling apart.

The console cover problem is solved:-)

I found one online at Overton's, their item number72251 (Large). Total delivered cost was a little over 50 bucks.

It had an elastic band around the base which I removed by cutting a small slit in the bottom hem, cutting it and pulling it out of the cover.

It covers the console and the bait well and seat in front of the console.

It's bright white, much preferable to a gray or black BBQ grill cover:-)

I'm picking up on this thread on the subject of a "console cover" for a 17' Aquasport, since I've just in the last 30 days investigated this subject myself.
I own a 1988 yr mfg 17' Aquasport which is in pristine condition and with its original console, as delivered by Aquasport. In March 2013 I met with a person from a custom marine canvas business located in the south end of Naples, Florida, asking him to give me a price for making a console cover out of Sunbrella fabric; one that would go from the top of the console to the floor and would cover the entire console, including the front seat which is part of the console. He quoted me a price of $275.00

THE REMAINDER OF THIS POST IS ON THE SUBJECT OF "FULL BOAT COVERS" ---.
This same above person had just finished modifying a "semi-custom" full boat cover that I bought from "Coverquest LLC" which is located in Boiling Springs, SC at phone number 864-699-9503. The people at Coverquest were very helpful and I would highly recommend them to any boat owner looking to buy a semi-custom boat cover. The cover I received from them was made by Carver Industries in Landrum, SC and is made of a waterproff but breathable fabric called "Poly-Guard" that has a 5 year warranty. The cover I got for my 17' Aquasport was their model number "71217P" and it fits perfectly on my boat. My boat does not have the stainless steel bow rail that exists on some 17' Aquasports. So long as your boat does not have that rail the "71217P" model cover will fit really well. It includes an attached cover that goes over the top portion of your outboard motor. The only reason I had my cover modified is because of a bow mount trolling motor that exists on my boat; I had a Sunbrella "pocket" added to accomodate the trolling motor. Otherwise no modification would be necessary. The Poly-Guard fabric is very impressive and is in my opinion just the right weight fabric; easy to handle yet very substantial. My invoice from Coverquest for this cover was $317. in February 2013. A photo of this cover is shown on my boat below. When the cover sides were pulled down and a pole inserted forward of the helm seat the cover fit is much tighter than that shown in this picture. Tightening straps and that pole are both included by Coverquest when you buy the cover from them.

I did get a different custom cover company to quote me the cost of making a custom full boat cover for my 17" Aquasport. They wanted over $900. to make that cover. I find it difficult to justify the price difference between a fully custom cover and the one I have from Coverquest.

I hope this helps others who are looking for a boat cover or a console cover.

Great post Coverhill,

I've been looking into semi-custom covers as well, one that only covers up to the gunwale as my boat is always in the water. I'll have to give them a call and see what they have.
