This has gotta be close to what it takes to restore a old AS

This ain't boat related....while maybe a little ..... the old girl in the background has been kinda ignored for the last year or 2  :cry:
 
This is the project my son and I have been working at my shop at home  since Oct/2011
Brent ...that be my son...bought this car in July of 2011
68 GTO

The boat has had more dust in it then fish blood the last 20 months.

I made the mistake and told Brent car would be drivable last summer......we never made it  :cry:
This summer it still ain't done completely, but after.....
God only knows how many hours...... I quit keeping track at 800 about a year ago
She's close enough.
We both agreed it's good enough to get through the rest of the summer the way it is and we will try to finish her up next winter.......
Besides that my boat needs some attention













I have watched and been amazed.... even jealous.... with what some of you can do with rebuilding a 40 some year old AS .
I have always wanted to contribute more to the rebuild thread but it is not my expertise.
I love boats, fishing, and anything else related to them.....but

My other passion is ..........
good old fashion American muscle

Nice job on the goat. The GTO"s, SS Camaro's and SS Chevelles bring back memories for me. I was in my late teens when they were new and prowling the streets. I did have a SS Chevelle back in the day but also liked the GTO's. A few of my friends had them.

Is that the tri power model or 4bbl engine.

The reason he could afford the car is it is not a #s matching block. Car is a 68,
block decodes to a 69, no big deal to us.
It's is a 400 w/a 4 bbl quadrajet, that was the stock carburetor for the 400.
The engine was built a little bit over stock by the PO, it don't like pump gas  :(
I don't believe tri power was available after 67.
It has Munchie 4 spd with Hurst shifter, also stock.
We replaced all the suspension on the rear and the front with
little more modern components   handles like it on rails.
It's going to be a driver might just as well ride in comfort.

We have a lot more to do and redo yet, but they can wait till winter.
I told Brent...and myself.... to drive and enjoy this summer   ,

These project are never done  
Oh well !! they help keep us feeling younger anyways  :)
