Gas Tank capacity 1975 22-2
« on: May 02, 2013, 08:48:06 PM »
Ahoy members! I am the proud owner of a 1975 22-2 with Twin Evinrude 70's. There is very little left to her that is original but she has been completely overhauled and is a peach! I am presuming, notice not assuming, that it has the original gas tank in her. Any information regarding capacity would be greatly appreciated. Due to splash her into the marina next weekend. Thanks for the info in advance and love the group.

Hi, welcome aboard, we're glad you're here!

A 22-2 with twins is dear to my heart and many others.

If she has been correctly restored, rest assured she does not carry the original tank. If you think she may....for the safety of you and your loved ones....replace it now. It is 38 years old.

Original gas capacity of your 1975 22-2 is 70 gallons.

The new tank on my '73 22-2 has a maximum capacity of 82 gallons.

gran398, Thanks so much for the information. Good to know that I am not being overly cautious about the tank.! I had exactly the same thought. You can bet your boots that it is on my shortlist to have done asap if it is the original. The capacity information will be very helpful when trying to decipher that information. How long have you had your 22-2?

Hey absolutely, you're welcome, glad to help!

Well, to answer the question...I bought the first one in 2009, it was misrepresented, so traded it for some boat stuff.

Then the next one, Miss D, I've had since 2010. The rebuild has taken three years. But it was worth the wait. It was due to be splashed here this weekend, but the windshield guy measured incorrectly, so will be next weekend. Which is okay since we have a sloppy northeaster set in.
