Any way to disassemble the switch and clean the contacts?
Chris,Never mind on the pic. Why does that look like a Quicksilver top mount binnacle with a different handle? 10 to 1 the switch in a standard top mount with the switch on the side of the t-handle will fit/work...
The problem with those switches in general is that the new replacements aren't much better. They feel mushy and had two go bad. Once, I came from fishing, washed the boat, went inside for about 5 minutes, came out side and had tilted up and was in full tilt and running by itself. The tilt motor was red hot. I turned the battery switch off to stop it. Water got into the switch and connected the up mode. I replaced it with a Bob's tilt switch intended to be mounted on the steering wheel and just mounted it on the console next to the throttle. It's a very heavy duty switch and completely water proof. That was 10 years ago in salt water and never had another problem.
