Young man, you mention your dad quite often. So reckon you're young...and some of us are sorta old...probably your dad's age?

So... looks like you have many uncles

Anyhow...we never met a girl we couldn't beautify. And not just cosmetic...right down past the nasty to the core. Hull-wise...a ton of experience here in quality work.

More good news. Our resident MM's have taken a liking to you regarding engine knowledge.  Good on you. You passed the "Are you FOS" mechanical exam with flying colors :thumright:

Welcome aboard... and we encourage you to participate here :salut:

thanks and yes i am young im only 22 but if it wasnt for my old man i wouldnt know anything about boats, motors or any of my electrical, carpentry and constuction knowledge. im really doing this to prove to him that a old heep can be made into a modern beauty and so that i have a boat that i know will function and not wory about any rotting or serious damage. im very excited to start this rebuild, im hoping once i get home this weekend with some of my supplies i cant start cutting into the sole and get the water logged foam out and begin removing these terrible storage boxes. so i can start laying things out, drawing up plans, and ordering materials.

Well thanks, I'm hoping one day to find a 196 Or a 200 ccp to restore but until then gotta make do with what I have. I really am looking forward to all the advice and help I will get from you guys. What do you guys think about closing the transom and adding a bracket with a 12-18" offset? I love the look a room a closed transom gives a boat. I want to repower with a 100-125 hp motor. The only thing I am having a problem figuring out is if I did the bracket could I stay with a 20" shaft. I think the boat would look way better with a closed transom. Also I was thinking of raising the sole 2-3" to place a fuel tank under the floor and make it a self bailing hull. Since as it sits now it's not. Everything just drains straight to the bildge.

And one more question before I go to bed. Ive seen on classic seacraft some one cored the hull sides to add stiffness and sound dampening I think. I want to stiffen my hull sides but could I just do a layer or 2 of 1708 to strengthen them and use bulkheads to tie them to the stringer system to stiffen them along with a few support structures on the sides from the sole up to the gunnel. Thanks again.

Well I found the mock up pulpit I made for my angler I used to own. So I went out slapped it on the Front just to see what it would look like. I like the look it gives it so i think i will be making one for it for sure. Here is the pic let me know how you feel.

Well I pulled the console and gas tank a few days ago. I'm starting on cleaning up the console. I think I may widen the console 2-3" and raise it some. When I went down my fathers I forgot to grab the molds and fiberglass but I will be going back down in a week so I will get them then. I have also changed my mind on all the composites. Going with wood all the way. The cost are a little out of my budget, and just want to get it done ASAP so I can be out fishing. I will be cutting the floor out this week sometime along with the transom. Once I have some real work done ill post pics.
