Weather sucks.....but catching be good
« on: December 29, 2012, 09:09:33 PM »
Since our 79 consecutive days of no rain......it ended last Oct.....weather has been the pits.  :(

Haven't seen a full day of sun since then   ....

Said the hell with it this morn and took the old AS out fishing

36 degrees and drizzle  :shaking:

It was cold but there is more than one way to get over that

This fish was the last one we caught

Not really certain if it was the weather or the Crown.....but it felt a lot warmer in the afternoon.

Bill, I'll tell you what...you boys up there have a WHOLE lot more cajones than us little pansy assed FL boys!!!  GD, 36 and drizzle?  Stay in bed, venture out about 10!!!

Excellent salmon, you have got that Explorer speced out for fishing!  Like the aft mounted FF, must get a little "busy" in the cockpit with the downrigger gear, cannonballs, and the rigging...

Well done sir and, as usual, the scenery?  Gorgeous! :thumright:  :thumright:  :salut:   :salut:

Good job Bill.
I used to be that crazy in my 20s and 30s but I outgrew it.

I remember one morning on Lake Martin in Alabama I could not figure out why my reel was getting so hard to turn.  Damn ice ball was forming on my rod tip.  I had to soak it in the lake every few casts to melt it off.

That is awesome, if your catching like that, it makes it a little more bearable, not great, but better.  I remember my days on the Chesapeake bay in VA in the middle of the winter fishing for stripers on the bridge tunnel, dressed like Eskimos but when the fish was on, all was good.  Great job Bill :thumright:

Looks bigger in the photo . I guess somewhere around 15.
It was a good day. We got 8 to the net, kept our limit of 4, lost a couple more. Lot of action for 5 1/2 hours of fishing
Woke up this morn to blue skies and no wind

Got to pull the old girl out of the shop this morn and give her a wash, also fillet the fish.
Have to wait for the garden hose to thaw out first......
Some idiot   left the water on the hose last night after giving the boat a quick rinse
Got the hose in the shop now thawing out  ..got down to 26 last night

Bob
Yea it gets a little busy in the back when you first hook up with a fish.
My buddy and I have been fishing together for a long time, got the program down pretty good
Takes the guy not hooked up about 2 minutes to get riggers up, cannon balls and gear inside the boat, after that it's all fun.

That's the deal right there.  In fact, amongst the big ticket SF crowd that fishes the Marlin circuits in S FL and the Carribean, the teams that have fished together, know each other tendencies, strengths, weaknesses...those are the guys that walk away with the $1M calcutta.  Used to be $500K...

With all the pissing and moaning I do about the weather here in the PNW, you all probably wonder why I chose to live here.
With endless winter months of gray skies and drizzle it tends to wear on a person after a while.
But on that rare cold, clear, weekend morning when I am actually at home to enjoy it, I'll grab a cup of coffee and sit on the deck and watch it get daylight.
This is what greets me. Sun shining on the Canadian Coastal Mountain range North of us.

Makes it all worth while.  :)

See guys, I don't complain all the time

Great view Bill.
I had 3 years of views like that in Montana.  No gray and damp either.  Just freakin' cold.

Got to tell ya
If I had to choose 2 other places to live, one would be Montana, the other would be Idaho.
Both are big, beautiful country.

Only one set back...........

Too damn far from the salt chuck.
