How did everyone do with the storm? I live on Long Island and we got slammed as you know. I pulled my boat out the day before but it didnt do any good. A house boat slammed into the group of boats mine was in from across the road and it sustained some  damage. There are some deep scratches to the hull with some being under the water line. The pulpit and anchor got damaged and the lower unit on my engine has a chunk taken out of it. I have insurance but im hoping that the repairs dont exceed the value of the boat.

With all the boats that I saw damaged, they might total a bunch of the older ones. There are too many boats and not enough adjusters, just my guess but total out the older ones and repair the large expensive ones.

But then what do I know.

I talked to Tom Schaefer today, he's a surveyor out of Clearwater, just got back from NY (he surveys for Allstate, among others).  Lot's of write offs...

So take the check, fix the damage, which in most cases is superficial, and fill the tank (and then some!) with the remainder!

I keep my boat in New Gretna NJ,right across from Viking Boat Builders. That whole area was destroyed.Luckily my son went down and brought the boat home. All the blocked boats floated off and were piled on top of one another under the Parkway bridge. There are still some missing.Really sad time.

Does your insurance carry a higher deductible for named storm damage?
