Please share photos prior to rebuild as well. We love seeing photos of before during and after. You can start a rebuild thread and people will chime in here and there on pros and cons of steps throughout the process. It really an incredible site with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Where are you located?

I agree that adding only 6-8'' would not be much gain and more harm could be caused than good if you add unnecessary hook causing the boat to pull to one-side. If you are rebuilding the boat, it would be better to set the console further forward in this case to gain a few inches. These older flatbacks had the console placed due to the CoG but because motors are heavier now, it helps to move the console a little forward. Are you going back with a casting deck or with a flush deck to the forward bow area?

I'm thinking a small hole like 1/4 with a clay shell on the outside, open end facing aft to keep water out when running.

I think I'd deal with a dirty spot/wipe down w a rag before punching more drain holes through the side of the boat.

I'm probably not going to this... my brother has a bay boat with a center cockpit that has suppers that go out the sides. I'm thinking a small hole like 1/4 with a clay shell on the outside, open end facing aft to keep water out when running. Would look weird, maybe.
