Title: duraglas
Post by: cboham30 on April 30, 2006, 10:15:00 PM: just wondering if anyone has used duraglas. i have a friend who's dad built a 52 sportfishing boat from the hull up. he's swears by the stuff, just wanted to see who has some input on the subject, since i havn't seen it on any of the rebuild sites :?:

Post by: james c on May 07, 2006, 06:16:45 PM: Great stuff!!! all my spider cracks were grinded out and filled with Duraglass. Once filled easy to sand then apply more if needed for deep grindes. Last step use a fine sandable fering putty, I used Americas Cup from Fiberglass Coatings tuff stuff will not shrink... Make sure when you sand, sand in a pattern using all points in a compus N to S, E to W, NE to SW, etc...

Post by: Resurrection812 on June 15, 2006, 01:18:18 PM: duraglas is strong however it does not have a long working time when mixed corretly. If you are looking to bond mateials together I would suggest ARJAY. Is is low shrinkage and the activator is MEK so it has properties and cure time like polyester resin. I use to to bond decks to stringers and fill small voids when putting in a new transom. They sell it a fiberglass services in Sarasota.
PS you can get it in 5 gallon buckets
