Aaron, sweet ride, and the incident.....man, I'm sorry.
Get her home and keep us posted.
Hate you had to deal with this...but a few weeks from now, things will be better.
Good work.
-
Listen to Scotty, Aaron. Congrats on the boat and sorry about the fender bender.
-
luckily everything to my truck was cosmetic. the other guy's car, not so much... it towed the boat home just fine, just the headache of dealing with the insurance companies. otherwise, tomorrow is a new day
-
What will become of the "Grey Ghost" now that you got the '68?
-
havent fully decided yet, may strip what i can from her and sell as is.
-
Thought you might have been the buyer. Congrats Aaron.
Too bad you have to go through the headaches of the insurance companies. Maybe you can buy the parts yourself and pocket some cash toward the rebuild  Not sure if insurance companies have to write a check to an autobody shop or if you can get it written to you.
-
Man that boat has pretty lines :thumright:
Here's the good news:
You're safe, he's safe, the boat is safe.
The rest, as they call it in the construction trade, is "Sticks and Bricks."
Glad you're okay. Keep us posted.
-
Well since everyone decided to piggyback on this thread, I've moved it to this forum. Hopefully a NEW thread will be started in the Rebuild forum as work progresses.
Good luck.

$250! I paid a Grand for mine in worse condition. Steal right there..

The best part is the partial de-construction, that is icing on the cake!
-
Any citation written, Aaron? I mean, if the guy swapped ends, something had to be amok there, unless the ruts in 75 just hold a lot of water...
-
fern, thats the part that made me jump on it. i was interested in scott's "miss peach tree" but i would have been back at square one: ripping out the deck and transom, so i backed away from that one. this one is already gutted, and the hull itself is a good skin to start with,
bob, i didnt get a citation, im not sure if the other driver got one or not. we both gave the officer the same story, swapped info, gave us each a copy of the report, and he sent me on my way. i contacted the driver's insurance company as soon as i got home and got a claim number, should hear back in a day or so to see what will come of it...

Aaron, gosh sorry about the accident. Hope the other guys insurance makes you whole. Still a headache. Glad your truck
was still driveable.
Pleasure selling you the boat and meeting you. Aaaron showed up right on time and had everything ready to go.
Loaded the boat signed papers and had everything ready in about 20 minutes! Also that new tie down you had
was smart thinking,,,,,,especially with the accident. Nice to do business with someone like Aaron who knows how to do business.
Hope everyting goes nice and smooth with the rebuild. John
-
Nice compliment John. You're a member here...please stick around :salut:
-
Aaron is a good dude! Now we'll see what he makes of her!
-
Thank you Aaron! After looking at so many awesome rebuild threads, I 've got the itch to start a project like that. If I saw that deal, I would have jumped on it. And my wife would have KILLED me.
-
Aaron that sucks about the fender bender. I had a guy spin out of control next to me on the Howard Franlkin bridge a few weeks ago after a couple of crotch rockets blasted by. Of course it wasn't raining. That was hair raising, I was able to gun my truck and avoid getting hit. If I had a boat behind me I would have been screwed. I know a place in Clearwater that specializes in Super duty parts and they also sell kits to update your front end to a 05 and up style if you like.

Trash the hull and sell the trailer for $2000.00...!!

Trash the hull and sell the trailer for $2000.00...!!
What? That is just silly!
-
trailer is our mechanic's trailer...
spoke with the other drivers insurance today, looks like they are gonna pay for the damage and give me a rental car till its fixed
-
Sweet new ride, have you rode a flatback before?
your gonna love it, they just don't make boats like that anymore.
Capt Matt
-
matt, i havent rode in an aquasport or proline flatback yet, but my customer's 24 Morgan tower boat i have been on a few times, i like how she handled.
-
I've rode a few 24 Morgans myself and seen at least 6 rebuilds locally. When I was getting ready to do my rebuild it was either going to be a 22 flatback or a 24 Morgan. People love the Morgans around here as most of them where net boats or crab boats. The Morgan just seems like too big of a boat for what I need, also the bow is way too high to ever run a bow mount trolling motor which is a must have for me along with the fact they blow around like a kite in any kind of wind.
Anytime you want I will take you for a ride and feel free to pick my brain when you start the build. You will be really happy with the flatback,
More than 900hrs and a year after mine hit the water I'm still all smiles.

Way to go Aaron on the purchase!
Couldn't get better news about the unfortunate accident; Coverage, a rental car, and everything is back home without any injuries!!
Looking forward to watching the rebuild.
-
matt, thanks for the offer! ill deff take you up on that! :salut:
wes, i may bring her home next week to start work so if you see my truck feel free to stop by.
spoke with insurance, should have the truck back friday afternoon, cant wait to get it back!!
i was happy with the truck on the trip, on the way down with an empty trailer i averaged 17.2 mpg, and on the way back with the boat i averaged 14.5 mpg
