Title: Need help - Finding serial number

I have what I think is a 1992 mercury 200 offshore.  I can't find the freaking serial number to order parts.  Anyone know where to find it?

It should be on the engine bracket on the starboard side.  If not look on the powerhead for a number stamped into the freeze plug like Bob said.

The serial number tag on Mercury outboards is located on the SWIVEL BRACKET (port or starboard); or, check the INSTRUCTION PLATE, located between the thumb screws above the steering tube.  The freeze plug has the number as well - it is a silver plug on the starboard head.  

You can approximate your S/N by year and HP with a manufacturing list like this:

thanks!  took a while, but finally looked on the top of the head and found the freeze plug.
