Title: Thru hull sizes
Post by: bondobill on April 03, 2012, 03:41:28 PM
Got a leak in my scuppers on my 79 FF. Time to replace, they are the original ones. Hose clamps around tubes are rusted up pretty good and would guess the plastic thru hulls have deteriorated to the point they will probably break trying to remove the hose., would need the fittings for the ones in the floor also. My FF has the scuppers that come out of the side of the hull. Would like to get all the hardware I need before I start tearing the old ones out. Any one know what size they would have been out of the factory and where I could get em either via internet or where ever.
Anything out there better than the ones with the rubber flapper, pin pong style won't work very well with them coming out the side of the hull, dock would take em out in a hurry.

Thought about replacing them when I redid the transom, inner skin was paper thin in that area, and the rubber hose was right up against the inner skin, probably damaged one of the hoses then trying to remove the wood. Would of been a piece of cake to replace then, now I will have a heck of a time trying to access them, so much for hind sight.....argh.

Are you just talking about regular thru hulls like a bilge pump hose would hook up to?  I'm in the process of replacing my bilge pump discharge through hulls (plastic) with stainless ones.  I haven't ordered them yet but I plan to this week.  Check out defender.com and hamiltonmarine.com.  Both are running sales this week only so you might be able to get a bit of a discount.

Bill and curious;

Hose size is one inch. Here is the Cadillac:

If you plan on keeping her...yep, its some money...but two of them basically equate to a bad gourmet meal somewhere.

Go with the cast bronze, or chrome on bronze. Will never crack. And will be there...forty years from now.

Thanks Scott.
Looks good to me
Don't plan on keeping her forever, but then again never thought my wife would put up with me for 30 years either
