i have a 69 22.2 in the middle of restoring, just wondering what yuo guys thought . i am thinking of painting my hull black w/ interlux perfection. any problems w/ black besides showing salt spray. i've seen alot of boats that are dark blue so i figured black should be alright.....thanks

Black will be high maintenance to keep looking good. When black is clean and shiny nothing looks better, but when it gets dirty, it looks bad!
I used Perfection to paint my Aquasport and liked it. Are you going to spray or roll and tip?
-
i'm going to roll and tip it. i'm thinking of going with black or dark blue, maybe even like a royal blue

One of the thing's that Black will do is show roven woven print thru on older hull's.

have a black truck, an eyelash stops traffic, too damn hard to keep clean. Always been a fan of the dark navy's and greens, but also aware of fading quickly. Thats why i think the light pastel blues, and yellows are so popular, look good and doesn't fade as quick(at least to the naked eye). If it were me and i was a black fan i would consider a glossy grey. I saw a 31' contender last summer in montauk that really turned heads, and trimmed w/ a nice blue. The boat is a dime a dozen, but this one stood out and looked quite stealthy

ddd222 Sound's like your compairing fading gellcoat to paint.
A good quality paint job [Awlgrip] will way outlast colored gellcoat.
