In a couple of months I will be rewiring the boat with help, ( I'm in a wheelchair). I have searched and learned allot on the internet on OMC wiring and color codes. It also looks like I will be tracing wires in the engine harness on the helm end of the harness. It's a mess. The center console is out and all the holes have been filled. I want the wiring to look like mine in the 31' Ocean Mater boat I have in the lift. The wiring used in it has the informat(http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa331/handi2541/badmarine-gallery1-36.jpg)ion lazer etched every 18". I don't need that in the 170 but I want it to look like this;

It also looks like i need to replace the top mount binnacle controls. They are original 1980 Evinrude. What are some good replacements often used?
Here are some pics of the 170 before I started filling all the old scew holes. They had mounted small pieces of teak all around the boat from bow to stern. It was used for snorklers to hold on to while looking for Lobster.

I would like to be able to do most of the console wiring of the boat so someone can just install it and connect the plugs. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.(http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa331/handi2541/1976%20Aquasport%20170/1976Aquasport170001-1-1.jpg)
Everything is off the boat now. Ready to get the hull worked on prior to painting.

Very nice. When you say "look like mine", does that mean you wired your Ocean Master?

No I didn't wire all of it. I live in Gulf Breeze, FL and the boat was built in Ft. Pierce by Ocean Master boats. I had them wire all of the neccesarry items and I installed and wired the electronics, FLIR camera, high pressure misters, radio, auto pilot and many others. They installed the transducer as it is mounted flush with the exterior of the hull and glassed in from above. If it was much easier to post pictures on here I could post hundreds of installation pics.
I have never done any engine control wiring. In order to make me feel comfortable I would like to change all the engine wiring on the original 1980 OMC 70 hp 2 stroke. The engine has right at 150 psi on all cylinders. I would also like to replace the engine to control cable, the helm, and all the cables, connectors, wiring at the control side of the system. Is it possible to purchase all of these cables and plug and play the whole system?

Where are your pics stored at? They don't have to be on photobucket - can be any hosting site. Main thing is that they can't be bigger than 800x600 - too much scrolling if they are.

Kraw,
Photobucket is a piece of cake. You can post pics on any site, not just here (heed Rick's instructions on size, I use 640 X 480), but any other site. You can also simply copy and paste the photobucket album URL, then all we have to do is click on the link and we can look at ALL your pics...
