Just sold my Ranger BassBoat and looking at something I can Scuba Dive and Striper fish from. Found a 1987 Osprey 17' with a 115 evinrude, sounds like well taken care of - anything special to watch for when I inspect the Boat - transom ? floors Etc ? I am capable of fixing anything so thats not a problem. So If all works out will bring it Home on Tuesday, Thanks

Mike,
Do the usual checks. Lean on the motor to check the transom integrity...really lean on it, jump up and down on the cav plate. Get in the boat and tromp heavily all around the cockpit sole, looking/feeling for soft spots.
The 115 is an excellent match for the 175 Osprey... :thumleft:

Thanks , kind of what I thought as well.

Just food for thought, but you can run out of room on a 17 footer very quickly, especially with a diver or two and all of their gear. I'm in the midst of a 22-2 redo and I'm already having a little 24 footer envy.
Hope it works out for you whatever you get!
Best,
Charlie

Ditto on what NE says.

Space at my house is tight, the boat I sold was 18' and fit perfect under the boatport I built off my shop. Plus fuel and towing is easier. but may look anyway. Thanks

Then everyone on this site immediately agrees: "You sir, have just bought your perfect boat, for an excellent price! Congratulations!"
(Really, it IS an excellent boat...mine gets me everywhere I want to go, easy to trailer, easy to store, easy on the wallet, lots of compliments at the ramps. And how can you lose? A new trailer alone would cost half of what you paid for the whole rig!)
Don't forget to check your flares, etc. Stay in touch!
