A quick battery question. I have done so much research that I have come full circle and feel like I'm more confused now than I was before I started. I want to replace my 2 batteries that I have. My current setup is this:
Starting battery - Interstate (cranking) with 800 CCA and 1000 MCA, group 24
House Battery - Battery USA, group 24 (thats all I can get from this one) I dont even think its a marine battery.
I have a 2003 Honda BF225 which I believe requires 1000 MCA to start. I also have
Garmin 546s, vhf, cd player, two speakers, running lights and 2 flood lights on t-top, livewell pump and an automatic primary bilge pump with secondary bilge pump if I need it.
I've decided that I want to buy the Diehard Platinum AGM.
Question is this: Are these AGM's dual purpose? I thought it was better to strictly have a cranking battery for starting the engine and strictly have a deep cycle for the house battery. Will two of the PM-2's be sufficient for my needs? (1 for starting the motor and 1 for the house battery). Do I need the bigger PM-1 battery at all? If I want to keep the Interstate for starting, can you mix wet cell with AGM or will there be issues?

Buy two of these at Autozone, http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalo ... rtType=&st (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/accessories/accProductDetails.jsp?subSubPartId=&itemIdentifier=107676_0_0_&brandName=Duralast&displayName=12+Volts,+1000+CA+Marine+Dual+Purpose+Battery.+12+Month+Free+Replacement&categoryNValue=100005&sortType=&st) this is all I have run for over 10 years, never had the first problem, absolute great batteries, and around $90 something each, you can almost buy 2 of these for the price of one of the "highend" named batteries.

X2
i had optima batteries in my truck, they lasted only 2 years with heavy off-road use, tried to take it back("3 year warranty"), they denied covering it as "it was clearly used off-road which is considered abuse" i called BS. swapped out for duralast group 27 dual purpose marine battery, still 100% after 4 years(2 of which has been in the boat!)
