Hello, all,
Thought I'd post a photo of one of my new toys for the 215DC - hope this new instrument panel from Marine Connection spruces things up a bit. If anyone cares to post information or advice regarding the wiring, I'd sure like to see it before I pull the old one - I haven't taken time out from having fun to look at the old one's harness connections yet. I'm hoping it will be just a simple plug and play job.
Before starting on it I'd like to figure out where to move my trim tab controls and depth readout panel. They're both now mounted under the tachometer, and I just kind of hate to cut this new panel to mount them in the same place. Thinking about making up a custom box to sit where the compass is now that will hold these and the compass. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the club,Nice new panel, just did mine not long ago and most of it is plug un plug,i have my tab control mounted in front of my shifter,i think you can do the same, also makes it easy to adjust them when your hand is on the shifter.
A box might be a good idea for the dept finder, down the road you may want to do something different like a fish finder and it would suck to have that hole in the dash.

John,
Glad to see you posting up on here, you are very welcome. This is not just a forum, because we all have Aquasports or have some meaningful link to them, it is the common thread that makes this place different than say, THT. Good stuff over there too, but you have to cut through the BS of the senior members fighting among themselves to prove who is right and wrong  on any given topic that pops up, and the original post kind of gets thrown in the back seat.
Anyway, as far as the wiring goes, I would be glad to help you out, and I think we can come up with a good location for the current items on your dash. A box on top if done right, would not look too bad, but I agree if there is room somewhere else, like around the controls as Scott mentioned would be more preferable. Let me know
Marc

They have at least one more Breaker/switch panel (the lower long one) for your Osprey $165, not sure on the gauge panel, but we can do the lexan panel for you, all I need is a few pictures and some dimensions, that is what I did for Mike (Glockdiver). On the DC, John needed a new panel because he wanted all the switches and breakers Identified, with our Ospreys, the gauge and switch panels are two different panels, the gauge panel doesn't need meter identification, you know what they are by looking at them? So the black lexan works great. I bought a new switch/breaker panel down there at Marine Connection, that is how I came across all this stuff in the firat place. Send me a PM.

that panel should look great!my vote is put the trim tab switches down by the ignition key and swap out that depth gauge for a nice fishfinder on a bracket in the are on the right side of the compass, you dont' want to put stuff to close to the compass as it will be thrown off.

You know what's really effed up? See that switch for the windshield wiper? I saw, and built hundreds and hundreds of 215DCs...not a one with a wiper...
-
could that be an explorer panel?
-
Pete, that is DEFINITELY a 215 DC panel. The 215 DC helm was totally unique amongst all the Aquasports, even the 215 Explorer. Here's the Explorer panel...

Nope, the DC panel was one of a kind...
-

Yep, that's the ole DC. Actually, one of my favorite models, after the big Ospreys, of course...
Like I said, I've never seen a DC with a wiper, yet that switch has always been there. I'm not saying there aren't any out there, but I probably wired somewhere between 75 and 100 DC helms (the boat was added to our line for a couple of years) and I never saw a wiper motor...
