A ship is safe in the harbor, but that is not the purpose of a ship.

It's a Metaphor...a true Pirate will get it! ;)
And who can resist a true Pirate?!?
-
ARRR
-
Well, I'm about as salty as it gets...
Me mudder was a mermaid, me fadder was king neptune...I was born on the crest of wave and rocked in the cradle of the deep blue sea, Seaweed and barnacles are me clothes, and hemps me hair, every bone in me body's a spar, and when I spit, I spits tar..I'se hard, I is, I am, I are. :pirat:
-
Well that was a diversion...
-
See what I mean?...Irresistible... :)
Now That's Salty!
-
arrrrrrrrrrrrrr don't get it :alien:
-
Oh come on Rodman
Life, Love, taking Risks of all kinds...? Thought Pirates were 'deep'...???
-
Salty...Avast me sails, be you a girl byrate lassie? :dwarf:

It's a Metaphor...a true Pirate will get it! ;)
To leave one's home (port/harbor) and the safety/comfort/routine it provides so to experience what the outside world can offer and to face all its unknowns.
It's finding out what's inside of you by comparison to a boat. Like most Aquas, they float real well in a harbor. It's when they're in a rough sea that you discover how well they were designed (or not). Just like real people, they're not meant to stay just "at home".
And who can resist a true Pirate?!?
Myself,
I prefer a baudy Wench
-
Of Course!!!
But I prefer the term 'Salty Wench'
-
Salt got me in trouble before but it adds flavor to life. 8)

I like the quote. To me, it's more like looking at a nice sports car parked in a driveway. Until you get it on the drag-strip, you don't know what it's made of.
To add to this- I've had my aqua in a rough sea (and a rough harbor), found out what it's made of, and now I just stick to lakes and rivers, and 3/4 throttle is too fast. (http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR6RY-3NDiuB1awGl0BGL8qjC7uanxddcyZ7ULuXvRRRjlAKfrc&t=1)

Oh Pete's funny!!

Hey Saltyseagal,
I want to hear about your boat...
-
Hey! They moved us
Well Fitz...
I don't have a boat BUT I had an old boyfriend who made me First Mate on his 82 Aquasport 240 with 2 Johnson 140s. That's the one I got hooked on ;)
He restored the whole thing and did a beautiful job. He's incredibly talented in that way. And I paid attention. Now he has an 88 290 AS XF that he's also working on. This one doesnt need as much work as the other so itll probably be on the water soon. But Sadly, I probably won't get to ride in that one :(
When I get MY Aquasport I'll be sure to let you know ;). It'll be the Salty Sea Gal and it will be pink. Lol
-
Hey! They moved us
Yeah I moved the topic over here.
It'll be the Salty Sea Gal and it will be pink. Lol
That'll be the first pink one on here I think.
-
Pink Aquasport? I hope your talking about pink accents and not all pink! Heck not to many on here even like fighting lady yellow.
-
It'll be Pink Pink Pink! Everyone will love it cuz everyone loves a chick who knows her boat ;)
Fighting Lady Yellow is a Seminoles color... Sounds familiar, like the Salty Wench II.0

That's why they call it life.
-
YES Capt Bob! That's the Salty Wench!! I took that picture...I sure miss her! </3
...And so you must know my Captain...
-
...And so you must know my Captain...
Sorry to say, we've never met. I only know of him from the Forum.
I'm sure he's a nice guy, just as is everyone else who participates on this site.
That sure is one hell of an Aqua he's working on now. We wish him good luck.
And so with that....
Welcome aboard Amy :salut:
-
We will have Scott our Director of Foofaraw (word of the day) begin procrument discussions with various rub rail manufacturers to find a red liquorish rub rail color to compliment the pink hull colors... We should have you something next week.
-
Ahhhh that Salty Wench. Yeah he did an amazing job on that boat. The 290 is gonna be a HUGE project!
-
Capt Bob
He is an amazingly brilliant and gifted man. I do hope you get to meet him someday, you will love him too!
And with that...I am thrilled to be among those who share my same passion! :salut:

I think we need to get Dr.Phil to help sort out the meaning of all of this
-
Although this was moved to chum...This whole scenario has become "different".
Not banging on anyone, and mean this sincerely. We were all caught up in the fun. But poster, at this stage, time to take this topic to PM's, e-mails, dating/relationship sites, etc.
Thanks
Like I said in my initial post, Scott, "a diversion"... :thumright:

Speaking for myself, like everyone else on this Forum.
What Members print is all I have to go on.
Then again, as far as Timmy C goes,
I like to throw out a line time and again to see if anyone is awake but this is certainly not the first thread that's strayed from the norm. :|
-
Wow i just now read this whole thing, very interesting indeed,(http://smileyicons.net/s/321.gif)

saltyseagal,
Time to come out of the woodwork, questions are being asked...behind the scenes. So what say you? Ulterior motive, perhaps? Get back at ole Duke? Trolling?
Truth, dear, would be appreciated... :?

Hey, a nice change to the normal serious chit-chat around here.
We had a seemingly nice gal here for a while - Lynn I think(?) - that was quite active for a while with 250 XF members and then poof - gone. Did someone scare her off?
Let's be hospitable here so we don't scare Saltyseagal off for no reason.
gran want me to delete the post above that you referred to?

Well 55 posts into this thread and lets see what we have, shall we.
A new member introduces herself in a different spot (rather than the "intro" thread, though that occurs here quite often) and in a manner somewhat different than some seem to understand.
She has to explain her post (how unusual  ) and her gender is questioned.
The color pink incites disbelief :?: :?: :?:
Searching old post, I recognize the first craft that is referenced to and post a pic.
Joy at being recognized begins. :D
Fearless Leader sets the table and I see if anyone is paying attention.
Weirdness ensues :o
Gossip starts and "feelings" chafed.
Dr Phil to the rescue.
Still more confusion
Demands
And finally a ray of hope :thumright:
Sad thing is out of all this, only two welcomes were issued.
-
LMAO!
Wow, you Boys are Suspicious! Have I logged onto the 'He Man Woman Haters Club'???
Cant a Girl add some flavor to the site with a fun quoatable quote while learning about boats??? :study:
Jeez, Lighten Up! Was asked to sign on, knows Im here  , still his biggest fan-
No wonder the other chick that was here bolted! Talk about 3rd degree... :compress:
NOW can we please discuss something more fun...like where is the very best fishing ever??? Ive only fished the Gulf but cant imagine anything being better than that!
And will I have to have my pink paint custom mixed or is there a stock color of that?
-
Saltyseagal, We talking about a pastel pink? or a really loud hot pink?
-
Was thinking a Cotton Candy pink! But I'd still like it to 'stand out'
Lol

Sadly that is the way of most internet forums. Suspicion or leg humpers drive the females away.
I think the cotton candy pink would do nicely. ;)

YIKES! Not the color but I like her lines! Tell me about it!
*Anybody seen his Photobucket this wknd? Maybe if I'm 'vouched for' there won't be so much paranoia! Lol
-
That color is a little too hot for me.
Maybe an old Chris Craft?
About 10 years ago tied up in a canal on Summerland Key we found a 1956 56' Chris Craft with twin GM 6-71 diesels for $3500. I wanted to buy it and live on it but she said no.
-
Yea that's definitely waaaayyyy too pink especially to live on
Think cotton candy or bubblegum...not Pepto Bismal. Lol
And since I don't have a Captain anymore I'll need one of those too. ;)

You may have to learn to be the "captain". We can help you there.
-
Now You're Talking!!
But we'll have to find me a smaller boat then...not sure I can handle something that big...?
-
Someone need a Captain
(http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z96/circlehooked/Captain20Morgan.jpg)
-
Launching and retrieving are the biggest challenges.
After that you can buy a bunch of fenders and leave them hanging over the side until you learn how to handle the boat. Maybe even tires without the rims
I recommend starting with a 170/175 - very simple boat. Easy to do everything by yourself.
-
Someone need a Captain
Nice - I hear the captain every now and then calling out to me.... like when we were on the gathering - you didn't want any though.

Rick sometimes i'm a cheap date
-
Ain't Mad Atcha! ;)
-
No Rick I know I can handle at least the 240. I don't want to go much smaller than that but not bigger for now. I was comfortable at the helm of the original Salty Wench so I know I'm good to go on one like that.
Plus I wanna be able to sleep on it too! :)
Now for the details...

Just drive it up Mobile Bay, then up the Tensaw River and I'm home. Surely it would not take more fuel than what I put in two 26' Penske trucks and two SUVs pulling trailers. ;)

How far is the water fromr San Marcos TX? I may be moving there...
-
Looking at San Marco via Google Earth, looks like you have Canyon Lake to the west and looking at the pics posted on Google Earth of the lake it looks big and beautiful. Approx 7 miles long and ranging from 1- 4 miles across. Plenty of room to get your hub-bub going.
Gulf is about 140 miles south/SE.
-
No...S-A-L-T-Y sea gal
How far from the ocean!! :)
-
See above - Gulf
-
Oh Sorry! DUH
No more Bikini Martinis today for me

MarshMarlowe!
Getting closer! This color is MUCH better but I still think I want it lighter and I like the black with it too!
I dont like the center console though...I know about one of those that flipped durng a fishing tournamant in Port St Joe & that scares me a little. How about one more substansial?
And thank you for the welcome. Happy to be here! :sunny:
-
Hey thats me!! :queen:
Where did you find that HawgHunter??
-
Had to go dig in the the OLe Treasure Chest arrrrrrrrrgggg :rambo:
-
Where gonna have to talk about that Pink Boat  You might make these fella's Sea Sick with all that Pink
-
Not ALL pink!
Just the light(er) pink on top half maybe black on bottom. Then the rest white. I have color chips for it already. OR maybe pink on top half a stripe of black in the middle and more pink on bottom. IDK I need a CPU program to show me all the different options.
And I think I've decided 'Admiral Amy' sounds better than Captain. ;)

The Fiance did this in her spare time a while ago. It was a joke color, but I'll see if she wouldn't mind putting a lighter shade of pink on Hawg's boat.
Everyone has a preference for a helm. I like both a Center Console and a Walkaround. Both have their strong points. As far as which would be more apt to capsize... I'd think the Walkaround would be more likely to go belly up in a bad situation; mostly because the walkaround is more top heavy and has a deeper deadrise (this is true when comparing WAC Aqua's to 12 degree C/C aquas... not true for all boats) which makes it a little less stable than a flatter bottom boat, like the pink one in the picture.
Capsizing seems to be somewhat of a phoenemenon. Capsizing is usually caused by a boat taking on too much water / sinking, then flipping over. Other mysterious causes of capsizing could probably happen to just about any boat.
This is just my opinion though. I admittedly feel pretty safe on a big WAC.

Don't invite too many friends.
-
I know at a couple AS gatherings I have had WAY more then the listed number of people in my 230, all hanging out, cooking staying in the shade - must have had 8/9 people in the aft and a couple up front. Kept a good eye on the level of the boat in the water - she handled it well.
-
I'd be happy & feel safe with that size. I may have the opportunity for a 92-93 Rinker 260V. I've launched and retrieved it but...it's not pink :(
Lol
-
My 230 is one of the few models that there is a ton of room in the aft - 13 ft from helm to aft, all open.
She has more room than any AS model and I've tied up side-by-side to all but the 290 and I'm sure all the added length on the 290 is forward too. I'm pretty happy with her. Hard to find although I see a couple here in town, of course they don't know what they have  She's no skinny water boat though - that's why I keep the 170.
