Title: 92 Aquasport thru hull fittings
Post by: stuart725 on April 29, 2011, 08:50:54 PM
I just bought a 92 Aquasport explorer and tried to move the ball valves in the back for the live-well and raw water wash down system and they wouldn't budge , then the thru hull fitting broke right below the ball valve    .  I was wondering how hard it to replace them and the right way to do it , I'm getting rid of the two systems but i want to put back the thru-hull fittings just in case i want to have them in the future .

Please don't tell us you bought the 230 model. :o
Only thing worse would have been the 210. :(

Read all about them here.

The models that would have drove Aquasport to bankruptcy...
Except that happen in 89.

Please post some pics cause there's two other members who are interested in the early 90s Walkarounds/Explorers.

Then tell us a little bit about yourself in the Intro thread at the top of the Discussion Forum. (that will get ya a salute :salut: )

Meanwhile, here's a start.

Also this.

Method I used (only with plywood) rather than bolting through entire hull thickness.

Look something like this?

Replaced with marlon thru hull and sea cock.

Stuart, first off...welcome aboard!

Guess wondering why the thru-hull move. They are pretty much installed as permanent, the placement at least.

If understand correctly, one has been wrung (wringged) off? Best you can do is pull her, dry her out, cut the 5200 bedding material with a sharp knife/straight edge on both sides, and knock out the bad thru-hull. Then either glass the hole (a compromise) or replace with a quality thru-hull and seacock (bronze ball valve with stainless handle).

Please expound. Again, welcome.

Stuart,
It's called satire. I thought I gave you several hints but...... :?

In any case, I own a 91 210 (look at my sig at the bottom of my posts  ). It's labeled as a 210 "Walkaround". This is what they were called in 91. Pryor to that, they were known as Express Fisherman (XF). In 92 they became Explorers and wore that monicker until their demise in 2005. The link (for lite reading) I posted has everything I've done to mine so far. I think it's somewhat clear in that thread as to my feelings about the style and construction. There are few "active" owners (two by my count) of early model walkarounds (91-93) on the Forum so it's always nice to see one but.......

There's nothing wrong with the boat that doesn't come with a 20+ year old design in general and being an Aquasport in specific.
Posts some pics so we can see what you have to work with. Under the right conditions I'm sure you will enjoy your 92 as much as I plan to enjoy my 91. Take some time and read the links I posted.

Unlike some, I never waste my time thinking I know more about anything than anyone else, simply because I don't.
