I am considering glassing over the hull vent on the front of my 1972 19-6. Is there any reason not to do this? I like the streamline look this would create and the platform to stand on. But, before I do, figured I should get some advice.

Do it! Not sure why early AS's used those vents, unless it was an I/B or I/O, they are not necessary...

I personally like the hull vent. I think Aquasport added the ventilation to these boats thinking it was necessary because of the gas tank under the sealed sole, but all you really need is the tank vent. But- I like the idea of more air ventilation below the floor- seems safer ; also seems like it would keep the bilge a little drier. With the bow cleat, moor eyes, anchor rope and bow-light already on the bow, it's already a good place to trip and fall overboard with or without the vent scoop.
The original vent scoop on my 19-6 was cracked and broken, so I replaced it with this little black vent I picked up from West Marine-
