i've added some pictures of my recent thing done to the boat,
1 - a windshield frame was added, good size diameter piping and matches the leaning post, it came from another brand boat. was not custom but it fit...
2 -boat name was redone, its a simple windows font, paid 27 bucks to get done at "signs now" in tampa.
3- guest 2 bank battery charger was added, works great. I was going to screw it to some kind of wood board and then 5200 that to the boat, But i just screwed it directely to the inner liner fiberglass of the boat...used a dab of 5200, seems strong enough. also note the quick connect outlet, very handy item...

Nice battery/charger/connector set-up. Everything's all together & nice short runs. Lettering & the name very classy.
To my way of thinking you have The Boat on the site. Would kill to find one... I looked at a 22-2 o/b this afternoon. Poor shape & not something I want to tackle at this point.
I admire your nice green vegetation too. Up here, this season is black & white; snow & gray skies. No color till April-May.
PS. Your plate sticker runs out next month. Don't forget :D !

Name adds a nice touch !!
I thought you set plans to paint the boat next?
-
I´m with JimCT. I´d love to find a boat like yours. I have transom envy.
Is it diesel or gas?
The name on the side of my boat is also a windows font. I took the long road and cut it up myself, on two colors for each side, so the name is embossed on blue over gray (like the original logo). It took me a couple of nights to get it done right. Then I learned that I could get it done for $25 in a local signs place. Talk about a good waste of my time........

Thanks guys,
The boat is gas engine, 89 ish ford 302 holley 4 brl carb, mild cam, points ignition system.
I'm putting off painting for a year...Right now its fun not caring bout scratches i make while working on it and upgrading stuff...
-
OS, you have a point about not caring too much about scratches and the like. After all, these are toys, not gems to be kept in velvet. Important thing is "its fun".
The only time I bought a new car I was paranoid about the thing; parked away from other cars, scuffled all the dirt off my shoes, all that sort of thing. Now its eleven years old & anything goes. I use it & enjoy it. Its a tool.
I use & enjoy the 170 too, but not with wild abandon. I keep sand out, filter out any shoes & people I see coming aboard I don't like the looks of, and generally act like any other over-protective father watching out for his teenage daughter 'tho my particular daughter happens to be a 34 year-old, but never mind...
I figure it all boils down to who we are and not what the boat is. Some of us are reconstructive boat surgeons, some pure fishermen in need of a vehicle, some light tinkerers, others gadget fans, others... well, you get the drift. Likely most of us are mongrels with the DNA of all.
A picture burned itself into my brain this spring as I was coming up the river after a totally unsuccessful day fishing in the Sound. Nobody I'd talked to all day or had heard on the VHF had had any luck. Nothing. Amongst the jam of boats in the usual herd heading for the barn was an old... no, ancient, bent, ratty aluminum 14' open skiff with a similar vintage cowl-less, rope-start motor. Aboard was the entire family, Walton style. Kids, Mom, Dad, Grammy, Grampa, Dog. Everybody. In that little tin boat also happened to be the biggest Bluefish I'd ever seen. Dad held the monster up for all to see. Judging by the proud looks of that beaming family, they knew they had the finest fishing boat afloat.
So, what's your pleasure: Perfect Aquasport? Scratched Aquasport? Gold plater? Little tin boat? If you're happy that's all you can ask for.

Hey OldSchool,
If you win the ebay bidding, would you please consider scanning it and adding it to our section on documentation? It would be a great addition. I have another bunch of ads that I need to scan and post, too.
Steve

oh course i will scan them. hopefully i win :D

If you're happy that's all you can ask for.
Exactly. I would love to paint mine but that will be the last thing on the list. I want a safe and reliable fishing machine first. Second would be safe and reliable ride for the grandkids. The last thing on my mind is impressing someone with the looks but that will come someday also. As I get the time, I'm patching chips, scratches, and dings. It will look more camoflage than anything for a while but once all that is done, I'll paint it. I still have to scrape up the discretionary funds to get the bottom soda blasted then I'll attempt a roll and tip job myself.
-
john thats the same way i think....sounds just like my plan too as i want to get rid of the bottom pain...
-
OS,
Your boat is drop-dead beautiful...
