im have in trouble getting up on plane. its a 1975 170 with a 135 johnson. if i throtle up to fast the motor revs out and no movement. im not sure if the motor is to high or i need to put a stingray on or trim tabs. please help!!!

Sounds like a spun prop hub.
-
im going to look at it and see but i never thought of that thanks

I think John is right, but if the prop is sucking to much air it will do that too, learned that from adjusting the manual jack plate on my little boat.

Ditto what JJ said :thumleft:
Welcome aboard :!: :!:

this is how i fixed it. now a couple of seconds and see is on plane. yes it is homemade and yes im cheap.
this was just to see if i needed a 50 dollar stingray but it worked so good that im leaving it on.

Looks good to me too :thumright:
Doesn't look cheap. Looks "stealthy". Bet it doesn't show up on enemy radar, either....

it dont show up on radar but the loud music and heat trail give me away everytime.
its not stainless, it was a spare peice of alum. it was hanging around the shop at work for to long so it got a new home.lol
