While doing my new black boot, I smudged a liitle black above the tape on the white fiberglass. Will acetone do the trick?
-
It probably will. Just be careful. It's easy to make a bigger mess. Be sure and wax the spot afterwards.
-
Mr. Osprey - not to be TOO stupid here - what are you referring to when you talk about a boot? the bottom paint? Just never heard it called that before, that I can remember.
JJ, never noticed that your boat has a tower. How's that workin' out for you? How do you get up there? I don't see an easy way to climb up - maybe I'm missing something.
-
I think he means boot stripe.
-
When I refer to a boot, I am talking of the boot striping above the bottom paint, just like Tailgunner said.
-
Thanks, guess I never new that the stripe actually had a name - learn something new everyday (dumb name for it though)
-
To add to the confusion, the name for that stripe up here is boot top.

Rick,
I love the tower. It looks kinda homemade but it sure helps spotting tarpon and cobia. It's not as pretty as what one normally sees but it works. Getting up is no problem. I step on the gunnell then step on the braces on the side. Getting in is a problem, especially when you are old and stiff like me. The inverted "V" on the side is impossible to squeeze through. Like it is I have to swing around and duck under the back side. (previous owner was NOT very tall.) I'm going to modify the "cage". I plan on moving the side braces to straight up and down at the corners. Hopefully this creaky body can deal with that.

John, as long as you're safe up there and it works - who cares what it looks like. "If it ain't broke...."
