I LIVE IN HOBE SOUND FL WHERE CAN I BUY MARINE PLY WOOD AND WHAT THICKNESS SHOULD I USE FOR A 1972 170 ALSO I WANT TO BUILD A LIVEWELL IN THE FRONT SEAT OF MY CONSOL ANY TIPS ON WHAT I SHOULD BUILD IT OUT OF AND BEST PLACE FOR WATER PICK UP

5/8" should be plenty for the sole as you're going to be glassing it also.

Talk to Joel Shine. He has everything you need in stock ready to go. He is very knowledgeable too. Best part is they are located in Vero. So you could just drive up and pick up what you need. No shipping needed! Good luck on the rebuild. Also, are you going to raise the sole up to allow the boat to be self bailing? I think on our 170s you would need about an extra two inches of height to allow the boat to self bail at the dock. Keep up posted. We like pics and lots of them.
If I were doing a livewell in my boat. I would place it in the console like you are going to do. I would have a brass high speed pick-up under the hull with a ball valve so it can be turned off. I have seen people use different things to get the shape of the livewell. I think small office trash cans all waxed up make great molds for a livewell.

This may be a greater diameter than you want but for example this is what I used for a mold on my one and only livewell project.

And if your running up to Vero, you will pass directly by Marine Connection Liquidators on North US1 in Ft. Pierce, just before you get into Vero. A MUST stop for you.
