Title: Sodablasting hull

Anybody had their hull sodablasted?
Pros?
Cons?

I have 30+ years of bottom paint and the previous owner used house paint on the hull above the waterline. I have no desire to spend a week sanding unless I HAVE to.  :wink:

I was one of the first boats in tampa to have it done and it came out great but the price can be up there i have the number to the guy if you would like.

Glad to hear that works well.

The guy here charges $25/ft for up to 30' + travel expenses. Still trying to get him to give me a total. He is about 100 miles away in Worcester, MA.

Now my problem is where to do this. My boat winters in a driveway and I think the neighbors would have a fit if I had it done there. Of course it's still in the water right now but will be coming out Thanksgiving weekend.

They build a tent around the hull so you can do it anyware and for clean up that should be part of the fee. The guy here price was about the same but no travel fee. It takes alot longer to do a hull then they make it out to be. He told me around 2 hrs and it took him over 4 hrs and the bottem paint was not that old. The soda they use you can oly get from the one place and it was 110.00 a bag a few years ago plus the equment was around 30,000.00 it's not cheap but if he does it right it will save a lot of time on doing your bottem.
