Hi everyone - I am new to the user group but in my 4th summer as a proud owner of a 95 Osprey 200. The boat currently has a 95-130 Johnson that is getting too expensive to maintain and it looks like i need to re-power. I currently live in Bermuda so my options for local service and inventory are limited. My current options are the Yamaha F115, F150 or the E-Tec 150. I use the boat mainly for leisure cruising and some reef fishing. Speed is not my main concern, however I do not want to under size the boat for the times that I do need the power.
Cost is always a concern, and the 150's are approx 20% more $.
Another variable to consider is the E-Tec Dealer is offering a 5 year warranty while the Yamaha Dealer offering 2.
Anyone have any advice on running with the Yamaha F115 or the E-Tec 150 on the 196 or 200's?
I would appreciate your feedback.
Cheers,

f115 - 414 lbs
f150 - 476 lbs
e150 - 433 lbs
i would go with the f115, because its lighter weight...

Welcome aboard!
In your choice of motor, living where you do, I would always go with the motor that you can get the best service after the purchase.
I personally really like the etecs, but out in the middle of the Atlantic if you can't get anyone to work on it in a timely matter (but the yammie you could) would make more of a difference in my decision than which one I "like".
I really like the etec 150 HO.

Welcome aboard BR :!: :!:
I think you might feel a little underpowered with a 115.

I have a 94 same model and I cant imagine anything less than a 150 hanging on the back. Mine came rigged with a 150 yamaha saltwater series.

Personally Id go with the Etec. They have a 130 E-tec which is quite a bit less than the 150. Atleast according to edsmarine. http://www.edsmarinesuperstore.com/evinrude.htm (http://www.edsmarinesuperstore.com/evinrude.htm)

My choice would be the 150 Etec. But understand with Etecs, if they are brand new and haven't been run before, you'll need someone on the island with the diagnostic software, as the trim limits have to be set and the oil system has to be primed via the software...

Thanks Everyone for the input. I have since decided to go with the E-TEC 150 based on Price, Warranty and Weight. The offering was about $1000 less than that of Yamaha, and 3 years more warranty. She gets bolted on Monday!
I can't wait.
cheeers!
