My last trip out I turned on my washdown / baitwell pump and the pump came on but no water. I tried both positions on the diverter valve but nothing. Its a Flojet diaphram pump with a strainer attachment. I cleaned the strainer and still no water. Any ideas? It worked fine every other time I used it.

So the seacock is open (diverter valve). Try tapping the pump with a hammer - may be frozen up? I replaced my flojet not too long ago - rusted up and it wasn't that old.

Mine did this after replacing the pump as part of my rebuild project, take the hose off from the barbed connection on the inlet side of the pump, take your garden hose, and shoot down through the sea cock (through hull) ond make sure water flows freely. Then spray through the strainer, mine had a clog in the strainer inlet barbed fitting, some nasty stuff made it in there, but not to the screen of the strainer, couldn't see it untill I blew it out with water.

Rick - on a somewhat related topic. On my 25 CCP, there is a Rule bilge pump connected to the seacock. There was a leak where the two connect, so I closed the seacock to keep the water out of the bilge, but can't figure out how the bilge pump is connected to the seacock. Are they typically threaded on or is an adhesive used? I can't see the actual connect point. Any ideas on what I should try?

Originally my 230 had a Rule pump that had a threaded plastic pipe on one end. The seacock had female ends on both sides, one side mated to the bronze thru-hull pickup

and the the other side had this pump.

I replaced my seacock, because it was plastic and then replumbed it.

The wire nuts are a nice touch too.

Yeah I thought those were special. I cleaned all that wiring mess up and I've since replaced the float with an electonic one but I still haven't cleaned up the pump. I think I tried initially with no success but I didn't put any heavy duty cleaners on it. I was too focused on putting in the 40 gal fresh water tank in the big spot in front of all that. Someday....
