Who has them, and what do you think about them. I know i need to reprop just dont know where to start.
twin merc 350's

First questions. Standard 5.7s? 260HP per or so? What props are you running now, pitch/diameter wise? Whats your holeshot and top end like? What are you dissatisfied with?
Look on the prop hub for the size and report back. One other question, are they CR motors?

Welcome aboard TAILHOOK :!: :!:
We have a few members with those big bad boyz - they'll pipe up soon.

Thanks rickK, seabob they are 260 horsepower mercruisers, As for prop size i will let you know when i get them off, Really like the boat just not happy with my cruise speed i dont care about the holeshot or top end.
cruise light load at average 17 MPH not knots @3000 RPM
top end 30 MPH AT 4500 RPM she might turn more but she was dirty when testing

Tail,
Most likely you have Alpha 1 drives. They'll take up to a 16" diameter prop, but it seems to me you might want to be getting into the 14" range, maybe with a 19"-21" pitch. Report back when you get a look at your current setup.

im thinking he's straight inboard. either way, im thinking base line pitch will be around 15-17 inches. diameter about 15. our SR which is underpowered cruised 20 mph at 3500 and WOT ran 29.9 mph at 4600 running 14.5X17 props. we stepped up to 14.5x19 and now cruise 20 mph at 3000 and 33 mph at 4400

aswaff400,
My bad! I never gave straight inboards a thought! Boy, that sure takes the trim aspect out of the equation!
But it still comes down to diameter and pitch. Hopefully the current numbers will be readable when tailhook hauls the boat... :D
-
lol my guess will be 15x15 judging by the size/weight of the boat and power. i wonder how close i will be? 8)

Pitch change, but not diameter...hmmm.
Not that it matters on your Amberjack, but how was your holeshot, before and after? Or was it just "tabs full down", and hope for the best?
-
before, the hole-shot was horrible. we where running aluminum props, had to have tabs full down to get on plane. now we're running CR SS props and almost never touch the tabs unless we're loaded down for a long weekend. hole-shot is way better
