New to the group here and I'm trying to save a few bucks this winter due to the thriving economy. The Live Well and Raw Water wash down appear to work off of the same pump and I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever done the winterization of this system themselves? I just relocated my boat from Maine to NJ to take advantage of the fall/spring striper fishing and the marina's around here want $100 to winterize this system. I figure there has got to be a cheaper way to do this on my own...

OK easy task close the valve on your intake disconnect hose put the end in a gallon of antifreeze turn on pump when pink comes out of outlet shut off pump turn y valve to whatever one was off and repeat process. Twenty minute job. Cost $5.00 for anti freeze.

God I'm glad we don't have to go through that ritual..... water temp today as I was fishing was 79.9.
Of course, we don't have the Striper action either :(

But we have snook...and redfish...and trout...and pothole flounder...and if it were summer, legal mangroves and juvenile grouper...and pompano...and permit...
Damn Rick, I don't think we have it so bad. Just fish 2 days after the front comes through... :thumleft:

winterization? what the heck is that?! is that like getting the boat ready to use in january? :lol:
a few of my customers haul their boat down here for winter just so they dont have to winterize them the farthest we have is from Wisconsin. the majority is from Tennessee or Massachusetts(thank god for spell check!) lol

NJ waters are running a special on dogfish this year. I didn't see them on your list...you're missing out. Somehow they are on a protected species list, but we can hook up with well over 50 on an afternoon.

Googled Dogfish, came up with a species of shark. Can you be more specific? Remember, we are fishing down here in the Tampa Bay area, and it's a long haul to Jersey to get some Dogfish... :wink:

seabob...you found exactly what I'm talking about. They are a complete pain in the butt up here...can't get your bait passed them and when you find one you will shortly find a hundred. Make fishing nearly impossible. They say they are used for fish and chips in the UK, but we don't eat the hear. I was being entirely sarcastic...we wish we had the inshore fishery that you have down there.

Love the Atlantic, and on both sides of our peninsula, we have the benefit of inshore fisheries. That, I guess, is a tradeoff for having 90 degree temps just 2 days ago... :evil:
Are those little sharks good for eating, like our blacktips and shovelheads?

Unfortunately they are awful for eating. I've heard stories that they are used for fertilizer overseas and occasionally in fried fish sandwiches elsewhere.
