Title: minimum engine size 225 Explorer ????
Post by: johnsjmc on October 09, 2009, 12:14:01 PM
I have a 2007 Suzuki 4S 175 HP and m considering buying a 225 Explorer with no engine. Most of the 225s were sold with 200 to 225 hp. Any opinions/estimates about perf with a smaller engine.Does anyone have one with a small engine??Also where did all the weight come from when going from a 22 CC to a WA they gain about 1500 lb.

You would probably be ok with the 175.  Should plane ok, just not have the top end of one with the bigger engine - probably only a few mph from a 200 though.

As for the added weight. the top of the cabins are heavy I guess. The whole liner changes so it's added weight from a lot of places - bait wells etc.
