Title: 1980 200 XF deck drains
Post by: exexec on July 15, 2005, 01:04:06 PM
Just found this site and I am so happy I did. I have a 1980 20 ft  XF(walkaround).Over the winter I did  alot of work-stripped it painted replaced all screws etc... I only have one problem now-the self draining cockpit isn't. There appears to be several problems: First the scuppers are below the waterline which allow water into the splashwell. Second there is nothing to block any water that gets in the splashwell from getting into the cockpit area. Any ideas or solutions. Thanks in advance!!

put on fresh scupper flaps.  IT eliminated about 98% of the water coming into my boat, I have an enclosed transom so it would be in the back of the boat before.  Now I have very very little water intrusion.

Is the boat sitting lower in the water than it used to? Or were the scuppers always submerged? I know my 1976 22'2" has slowly "settled" over the years. I suspect water intrusion.

I added a yammy 4 stroke 9.9 for trolling. I am pretty sure that made it do down too low. Now I am looking for a solution. Looked at the ball scuppers-are they any better?
