Here is my last boat, hurts me every day to think i gave it up. I traded it towards my current boat. I needed something with a cabin to be able to travel with other family members and friends on getaways. This was the best boat i have ever owned, so solid, would take this boat anywhere. I haven't been able to get in contact with the guy isold it too to see if he still has it or where it is, i was hoping maybe one day it would pop on here for sale again! Here are a few pictures of my long lost love :( :( :( :( :( :(

Great Pics, thanks for sharing. I may be labeled as biased, but I feel that the 78 and 79 200 ccp were the best designed 20 footers Aquasport made. I love mine. its such a useful layout with plenty of possibility for custimization. Im sorry you lost her.. shes a beauty!

I may be ostracized for saying this, but I have to disagree. To each their own of course, and a CCP may suit one fisherman better than the other, but the only thing I like about CCP's is the more aggressive deadrise. Things that bother me about them are the weird places along the inside wall under the gunwale where you're supposed to be storing things like lifejackets/whatever. It's all exposed! And the few hatches in the bow/stern and the barriers along the sidewall for storage is all made of wood. Plus all the other wood. Exposed wood=rot. I also don't like the lack of a front casting deck... I feel that's a must in any boat. Also- I don't like the inner liner/cap. I feel it takes away from the smooth flowing lines of the older non-CCP models w/o the cap. Then there's the coffin box... I know a lot of people love them, but I can't seem to understand why you'd want a coffin box instead of a front deck with integrated storage...
Just my humble opinion!! Please don't take offense, as I am obviously outnumbered by the amount of users on this board that love their CCP's. I had to defend my little 19-6.

I loved that boat, i respect some of the things you say and liek you said everyone has there opinions but for a center console that boat had everythign i could possibly want from the transom live well to the storage in the console and the t top, it was such a solid boat, i felt like i coudl take that boay anywhere.

Holly molly, you really don't like those 1978 ccp's, do you  There's sure some year model of the Aquasport that I don't like as much, but it's an Aquasport and actually like that model, it's different, it's nice to have different boats like that, all the models have - and+.
I like my model of boat for sure
Very nice boat miky :thumright:

Hey Guys,
its all cool. Didnt mean to start a debate. Its all about what someones needs are and how to fill them. I agree with badon that some of the features out of the box were a bit strange, but i have been able to modify them to be great things for my needs. The in-gunnel life jacket holders... aint happening, those are for dock lines and beverages. The coffin... dry storage. The port and starbord battery boxes... bait bucket and storage. Its a great platform for modification. I dont see the same flexiblility in the flat back models with the caps that have open gunnels... I find them to be have alot of wasted space... but thats just me. I appreciate them all the same and hey... if it works for the captain then thats cool. As long as were all out there doing what we love. By the way, if you havent seen my ongoing project.. here it is...

check back often, i have alot doing in the next 6 weeks on her.

Wow, Koz. It looks new! I have a 22-2 flatback that I bought 25 years ago. The former owner called me the next year & wanted to buy it back. I'll never part with it, however, now I'm looking for a 22-2CCP for my son. He has a different use for it...heavier water.
-
No Class, a 22-2 is a great boat (All the Aquasports are great) and I would love a few extra feet, but for some reason the 200ccp is the only model with the port/starbord battery box and live well in the middle configuration. I would buy a 22+ ccp right now if they made one EXACTLY like the 200 but with a few more feet. It seems like in every other model they went away from that aft design and opted for a more open transom design (if im wrong please supply year). Still all good boats.. but for me ive converted that aft for my needs. However, if you are going offshore and it gets a bit snotty you will appreciate the few more feet. Thanks for the compliment. Im anxious to finish her up. I figure I need 3 more weeks to get her in the water and to proudly post my finished Aquaporn!

The coffin had one and one purpose only. It was designed to hold So. Florida's most sought after summer fish, the dolphin.
Filling a boat with 60 to 70 fish was not uncommon in those days and you needed a place to store your catch.
Dolphin bleed like a stuck pig and the deck gets slippery real quick when the school is surrounding the boat. The coffin was perfect for quickly clearing the deck for continued action. At the end of the day, the additional weight forward softened the ride (somewhat) on sloppy days.
Now a days, mine is used for storage and it makes a nice lounge for the wife.

Don't want to ruffle any feathers but just a comparison from someone who has owned an osprey and a CCP. Osprey's are good boats as long as you keep them on lakes, sounds, etc. With the low transom, low freeboards and deadrise, they are not very ideal for any kind of rough conditions or offshore fishing. Don't get me wrong, they are great little boats.
The CCP'S offer a high freeboard, minimal transom exposure from a stern wave attack along with a built in splashwell for added protection. The deep V gives a smooth, dry ride.
As far as the coffin box in concerned, Capt. Bob described what it was intended for perfectly. Mine is used for storage and seating. The storage and seating the coffin box offers, is superior from what I had with the osprey.
Everyone is entitiled to their opinion, and this is what I have found having owned an osprey and a CCP.

I didn't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers either .... It's all for the sake of friendly debate, which I'm sure everyone enjoys from time to time. I agree with you dupree about the older 19-6 / newer Ospreys being designed primarily as a bay boat, and the CCP being geared more toward offshore fishing w/ the more aggressive deadrise and higher gunwales/freeboard & transom splashwell. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I would bet Aquasport based the 20' CCP off of the existing 19-6 hull; adding deadrise and a high gunwale cap/new inner liner ( I doubt they built an "all-new" boat). Some say the open gunwale on the older models was not making use of the space available, but in my opinion, there were rodholders already under the gunwale, and the storage in the bow/under the console (front cushion) was enough so as to not require the addition of boxes/storage holes along the gunwale. The gunwale was also not very wide in comparison to the CCP... So, you have an existing 19-6 hull, then you plug in a CCP style inner liner complete w/ a floorspace robbing splashwell and thicker gunwales, and you have what appears to be a bigger boat, but you actually have less truffle shuffle space inside the boat than you would on a 19-6. A 19-6 Floor plan, especially w/ the sternmounted livewells, gives you much more actual space inside the boat w/o sacrificing any storage. As far as a CCP having more seating available because of the coffin box, I'm not so sure... with my bow cushion, I've had three scantilly clad girls laying comfortably on the bow, 2 people sitting comfortably on the generous console cushion, and two people comfortable on the cooler seat @ the helm... not counting myself passing beers to everyone from a lonely cooler in the stern (please don't tell the Coast Guard :) ) I'm not sure what the Coffin box looks like inside, but my guess is that its not one big fish box.... then you really wouldn't have much storage.

Is it bigger than that fishbox in the middle of the bow..? By how much...??
The CCP is definitely a better riding offshore boat by hull design, but I would hate to be working the creeks in one. I feel that's the beauty of the 19-6: Wanna go offshore? (After all, the 19-6's and 22-2's were THE offshore boats of the day) Sure, but you might need to run a little slower in rougher water because of the semi-vee, but your range of on plane speeds is much wider; also because of the semi-vee (not to mention requiring less HP to obtain similar speeds). Wanna get up in a tight little shallow creek and catch some live bait prior to the trip? You can do that too, with a nice casting deck and a lower gunwale which makes possible things like bow mounted trolling motors. Or you can forget saltwater altogether, and go bassfishing on a lake from a nice stable open fishing platform while Tritons buzz past you chasing after 70mph fish. If there was ever a versatile boat, it's a bay boat. If you're an offshore only kind of fisherman, the CCP will ride smoother.
Once again, just my opinion.

Well you guessed wrong.
It is one big fish box complete with overboard drain. You can store a boat load of fish or gear in that thing.
I haven't owned a 19-6 but I did own a 170 Osprey. They both have their good and bad points but there is more storage in the CCP. Fact is, there resides a cavernous space just waiting to be exploited under that coffin box if one so desires.
While I loved my 170, it rode like a sheet of plywood in a 3 foot chop. A great boat in protected waters but didn't like wind at all. Bought it new in 86 and sold it ten years later.
I'm always open for a friendly debate and it is tougher to wrestle the CCP around in tight spots and shallow water. That's why boat builders make so many models. So what's the better craft? I can't tell ya. Hell I'm looking for an XF as we speak. Man is never satisfied. :thumright:
