Title: Sea Star Helm is leaking.
Post by: palmettofishing.com on January 28, 2009, 09:10:49 PM
I have a seal kit on the way in the mail.  Does anyone have any experience with this ?  It seems to be leaking from the top around the shaft.

I might add that if you have the entire seal kit, it is worth doing every seal since you already have it apart.  I rebuilt one 5 or 7 years ago - easy job, just follow the instructions.

Thanks Double...it was the easy and quick.  I popped the shaft seal off, cleaned it up really well and put the new one in and have not had a leak since.  I know it was not as thorough as using the whole seal kit, but it was only leaking from the top for now.  I will pull it apart if I have to in the future, but it seems to be good for now.
