Is there a strip of thicker fiberglass on the hull side of the stringer to hull joint of your original stringers? My stringers have seperated/cracked in several spots along the "outside" of the port and starboard stringer in my 72, 22-2. Thanks

My stringers are glassed half way up on the outboard sides with heavy woven & all the way to the top in my engine compartment inboard & halfway up the rest of the way. I have one spot of delam on the inboard side to the hull. Also some cracking & crush spots on the top corners in a few spots. I will begin some patches as soon as I finish removing wet foam in other stringer.

Mike, do you care if I stop by sometime to take a look at your boat?
-
How bad is the separation? Are the stringers broken at all, or just pulling away from the hull?

Sure you can come by & take a look give me a call @561-758-5226

the stringers are in good shape, no cracks, dents, anywhere. The only bad spots are on the top edges near the foam fill holes where the fiberglass appeared to be thinner than on the sides.
The seperation seems to be limited to the 4" fiberglass tape in the immediate joint of the stringer and hull. its consistant and only on the "outside" of the stringers.

Grind it, add a filet, more glass, and forget about it.
