Considering a 1986 Aquasport with a 2003 200 hp Yamaha 4 stroke.
Given the lower low-end torque on a 4 stroke and the size/weight of the boat, is this enough power ?
I love Yamahammers; that is my first choice in engines if I have a choice. Not knocking any other moter, I just have experience with them and they have a reputation for reliability [with a few exceptions].
My understanding of the 200-225 Yamaha 4 strokes is that they are some of the most anemic 4 strokes out there, but they are quiet, reliable, and easy on your fuel budget.
Any opinions whether this is going to be enough power/torque ??

First, welcome - but shouldn't it be Cap'n Crunch? 8)
I would lean toward "no". I have not been on an AS WAC, but have been on a very similar hull - and it was powered by a 250 - and cruised about 28-30mph. I would think you would want at least that much HP - if not closer to a 275 or 300 if you want to go faster. If you throw a 200 on there, I could see you cruising in the 23-25mph zone, and the motor will be working.
Either way, you should take the boat for a sea-trial and see what you think.

Nope, Captain Crunch was my father ...
The boat is about 100 miles away from me, and I will definitely sea-trial it if I go down there. Just wanted some other opinions to either confirm or deny my suspicions...
No substitute for a sea trial, but no reason to drive 200 miles round trip for disappointment, either...

I have a 1983, 246 wac, when I bought it it had a 87 200 hp merc black max on the back, was a little slow, when I repowered after the motor didnt want to stay together wnymore I went with a 225 optimax and could'nt be happier. I can go roughly 75-80 miles on 35 gallons of gas, it cruises at 24-27 mph @ 4100-4200 rpm with a max wot 5750rpm putting me in the 30's for mph.
