Title: 2 TOPICS- GAS GUAGE ONLY SAYS E+ AND NEED A NEW CANOPY
Post by: BOB DOC on November 12, 2007, 09:10:55 PM
HI Y'ALL
Bob Doc from Chattanooga. Finally got the 1980,246 Family Fisherman home from Fla. Ran it in the Gulf for bout an hour and after a few chokes on some lingering stale gas she performed nicely.
Put 50 + gals in it but the guage went just above empty and stopped like it hit a wall. It does not move from there. Whaddya think.
Also I'm surely going to replace the original equip canopy.
Again any direction would be appreciated.
Resigned to not getting either an owners or wiring manual as from all input they were probably not issued in THOSE DAYS.
Have some frinds who will rewire for YEUNGLING and that'l be good for me as my untechnical person will be forced to become enlightened.
Any help on the two requests?
Thanks in advance, Bob Dougherty

Get your technical friends to look at this website.  Troubleshooting instructions for all sorts of gauges and senders.

RickK can instruct you on canvas.  His boat has more canvas than all the rest of us combined.

It sounds like the sending unit has given up the ghost. They (senders) reside in a harsh environment. Corrosion is the cancer that does them in. Replacement is the cure. Little to fail on the gauge but if cost is not a factor then do both. I would verture to guess that the gauge is funtional unless you dropped something on it, say a monkey wrench or frozen beer can.
Good Luck.

I've got an almost new Teleflex sender that came out of my old tank.  The new tank came with a new sender installed.  It is currently set up for a 13" deep tank.  If you want it, PM me and it's yours.
