Title: Half Tower on a 17

Has anyone ever seen a half tower put on a 17?  Is the boat just too small to make it work?  I have an 88 17 footer that I would like to try it on.  Please let me know what your thoughts are on this.

thats a small boat but it might work. I saw a a 17' flats boat with a small tower once

Keep it really short.  You don't have the beam to offset much height.  I see quite a few small boats around here with a tower that puts their feet about the top of the console.  Single control station on the tower.  Kind of tough to run from there if it's rough out.

Thanks for the input guys.  The platform sits about 4' off the deck and could be shortened if necessary.  I do realize it may be overkill on a 17 but I think it could work and be a nice feature, even if I have to shorten it a bit.  What would you estimante a half tower wieghs in at?

Hell, I almost roll my 170 over stepping on the cap on either side - can't imagine how scary it would be with the weight up another 4ft higher.

I agree with Rick. I have a 17' /115 Evinrude This boat has shallow draft of 7and a 1/2 inches. Changing the center of gravity with a structure  that alters the distribution of the load may be dangerous. I have even refrained from adding a bimmini top.
     I do not think the boat could handle a higher center of gravity, especially in a choppy sea or even a swell.
