Title: While we're talking trailers.

I looked at several used trailers, and some of them were nice, some not so nice.
First thing I did was find a trailer(new) that I wanted, once I got the price of that trailer I could set the budget for a used trailer. My budget was 60% of the cost of a new trailer, the budget included repairs, upgrades, and travel, I also gave myself some room of 10% if I found a really nice trailer close by. This didnt happen, after I decided on the used trailer I wanted, then figured in the repairs and upgrades, plus travel, diesel is $3.00 a gallon here, it just did not make it in the budget. I decided to have a new one built, custom to my boat...No Worries

Thanks Keith, but I am now 77.9% sure that I will just get a new one. I hate to spend the money but, well, damnit its important. I will be trailering A LOT. Plus, like you said, soup to nuts used ones get pretty darn close to new prices when its all said and done. Grrrr!

However, if anyone sees that perfect used one, keep me in mind...

You know I kept looking at this trailer after I posted it, and I got to thinking, thats what I wanted in the first place. I called the guy, drove to Slidell, before I got out of the truck I knew that trailer was mine. I love it...
Just the right length,disc brakes, tandem axle, extra heavy jack stand with a 2500lb winch and only 8 months old, and all aluminum.

She's sitting in my driveway as we speak.

I'll keep my eye's open, if I see one your size, I'll let you know.

Post by: Undertow2 on October 02, 2007, 10:37:44 AM: I was just informed that in the State of Florida if the combined weight of a boat/trailer is more than 40% of the towing vehicle weight it must have brakes by law. Also, all tandem axle trailers must have brakes.
The guy who does all my trailer setups used to be one of the engineers and managers @ Performance in St. Pete. He just explained that all to me. Anyway, FYI....

Try pulling one through the Keys and the Monroe Co. sheriff will be happy to educate you. :wink:
