Title: Where can I find classic Aquasport badging???
Post by: madpiper on August 15, 2007, 10:47:48 PM
I just purchased an 89 osprey that was fully re-done in 2000 and would like to add some classic Aquasport badging on the exterior to really show it off!

Does anybody know where I can find the old style Aquasport badges?  Online...where?

Thanks!

Here's the boat by the way...

Nice looking rig... where are you located?

I think there may be some gentlemen here who can help you with badging... but I will let them offer their services instead of me volunteering them.

On that note, I think that certain gentleman should set a price for badges- because while it is nice of him to give them away, I think there is enough demand that he could at least make a few bucks reproducing them on a small scale!

Guess I'm that certain "gentleman" Lilrichard's referring to.  Right now I have available 22-2 and 240 badges.  Am trying to complete the mold for 19-6 badges which should be done, hopefully, within a week.  Lilrichard's right concerning costs on the badges.  The first few I made were free of charge but I've been hit with a lot of requests so I figure $20.00 per set is fair for a set.  Badges will have to have the lettering painted on your end as I'm not set up to do that yet.

Hey Jim,
Badges arrived today. Beautiful work.
Not sure if $50 is enough to pull your time away from those other AS projects. Now if we can just finish one boat before getting another. The "Creampuff" just needs buff and wax before appying them.

Joel & I are very grateful. Please PM name and preferred address.

Hello JimCt - Would appreciate your helping me locate a pair of 170 Aquasport badges for my 1973. In reading the forum of recent posts, I'm hoping you can produce a pair for me. I need the plastic type that are riveted to the hull - I can paint the correct green no problem. Please let me know and payment terms, etc. Many thanks, Mattakeese, Cape Cod Mass.

I have posted for several months trying to cantact this gentleman about his emblems.  I asked other members if they knew how to contact him as well with no success.  My guess is he's not available anymore...

I too have tried to contact JimCt about badging. I notice in his profile his last post was May 2, 2008. Perhaps he is on an extended vacation or God forbid, had an accident.

Ciavarone-

I believe you can just measure your current console and UPD will make a windshield to fit.

You can do that or just call the guy and ask he'll know if they are the same, it would'nt hurt to have the measurements though

Did '83 have the molded badge or was it graphics by then?

thats a great question, the boat current doesn't have badging, I would like a molded one, but if i can't find a pair I will have to settle for a decal that i have seen on the auction site

If it had a molded badge there should be holes in the aft on each side for it.

Once you have them, what paint do you use?
Title: Re: Where can I find classic Aquasport badging???
Post by: slvrlng on February 09, 2011, 08:51:27 PM
I have the advantage of being a former auto paint rep. I have 100s of colors in the basement mostly of a waterbased custom paint. I mixed up some colors and matched it to skoots badge color. This basecoat has excellent adhesion to a lot of different substrates. I then used krylon fusion clear. You could probably find a auto paint store in your area that could match something up. Then clear them.

Post by: flkeysaqua on February 11, 2011, 09:45:23 AM
Start with a plastic paint ie Krylon Fusion or Rustoleum also makes a plastic paint, I used white as my boat is white as well then I had some left over one part enamel that I paitned my bottom with (not bottom paint) and it worked out well matches my boat and give it a durable shiny top coat.

C'mon guys I had 6 people tell me they were interested all of which emailed me I sent return emails and haven't heard back. I'll be on vacation for a few weeks come Aug. 23rd so if you want/need them before mid September now is the time. Sizes are 22-2 and 19-6 I have a brand new batch of plastic just waiting for new orders. If you have another size and need a set all I need is a complete badge or pieces of a complete badge to make it. Let me know

Hi. Do you need the year of the Aquasport 22-2 or are they all the same?  I'd like to get a set of badges for my dad for his birthday.  Please call with any questions.  Donna 925-818-0337

Hi Donna,

Very cool Bday present. The year of the hull is helpful. A picture of the boat would be great. The emblems are pretty much the same between 72'-78'. Are they the raised molded plastic version?

Hi. Yes, they're raised plastic.  I think the boat is a '77.  The badges look just like the ones pictured here in an earlier post.

PM (private message) flkeysaqua in this forum; I bought some from him about 1 1/2 years ago for my 73' 22-2 and they were perfect. You will have to get them painted.
