Is anyone running a 175 suzuki 4 stroke on a 222 center console? I am interested in performance data, mpg, etc. Any info would be great. Even if its not a suzuki but another make, just wondering what im going to get when I decide to buy a motor.

Hey Slippery73,
I'm planning on a 175 or 200. No smaller, no larger. Probally a two stroke as well, to keep the weight down. The two stroke mpg is almost as good as the four strokes now.
I would be interested in the data though from anyone who has something similiar.

I just found this link that Miguel put up in another section.
It's a '72 222 with a 175hp. It pushes the boat top end at 42-45 and nice cruises at 27-30. No mpg info though.

Nope, never found the numbers.
I ended up buying a 2003 175 Optimax for mine.
Once she's in the water (hopefully by Oct) I'll post some numbers.

i had 3 different power options on my 86' 222 ccp, 200, 225, and 250. I think it depends on the model. I wouldn't suggest anything lower than a 175hp on the ccp, as the deeper vee needs more hp to plane. I've explained my thoughts here on the subject of maxing out power, but less hp needs more rpms to plane and cruise a boat, i.e., a lower rpm for both parameters in my opinion should translate into longer engine life. And as far as fuel consumption, a 175hp planing and cruising at 4100rpm, a 250 doing the same performance at 3500 rpm, negating a perceived fuel savings w/ the lower hp.
Now these were ballpark figures so don't quote me exactly, but that was my experience between the 200-250hp's on my model. NOW if its not the ccp model, a modified vee doesn't need as much umph, so elaborate if u can
