Is it possible that a 82 25XF with a 2 stroke Johnson, about 50 gal. fuel, no water onboard. My wife and I aboard 330 pounds with dry fishing gear to reach 40-42mph? Our Garmin map 498 has recorded 36 knots?   Gary   ps: The hull was thoroughly scrubbed/cleaned but with old solid bottom paint.   Gary

What size motor you have Gary?  I can hit almost 40 (I did see it once) with a 250 on my 230.

Let's see, with the perfect prop, going with a good current, with the wind behind you, motor trimmed out almost to ventilation, ideal temp conditions, running in salt or brackish water, yes maybe you could make 40-42 - but 36 seems more realistic...

36 knots = 41.42 mph

1 knots = 1.15 mph

so I think it's possible.
