Curious about these and was wondering if anyone has one on a 222 Flatback.
Want to know the power, speed and fuel burn.
I like the 140 because of the weight but wonder how well it pushes it with a few people on board.
Was wondering if the fuel burn numbes are the same as the Suzuki website boat tests.
Thanks,
Ray

I have a 140 suzuki 4-stoke on my 1971 222. It runs 38mph at full throtle but I typically cruise at 30-32mph. I don't know the exact amount of fuel I burn and the rpm figures, however I can usually run 4 trips before I need to refuel. Note that these days of fishing are typically running 15-25 miles out on the flats per trip. I love the motor. Yes I wish for a better speed, but the money I saved on the motor and gas is great. I had enough money left over to buy a jack plate, new steering, livewell, and electronics. I also went with a 25" motor so that the engine wouls always sit higher and away from the wash out when I slow down.

I can't answer your question Rayos, but I'm sure happy with my DF-140's.

Thanks for the replies. I could give up 3 to 4 top end for the fuel and weight savings of the 140 over the 150/175. Those twins look like they are humming ...
The performance figures on the Suzuki site show the 140 getting close to 5 mpg on comparable boats.
Will see if I can make a deal at the boat show.
Thanks again.

Can't answer your questions yet but should have my 22.2 with a 175 on a porta-bracket running by April. I have the 140 on a 18ft. flats boat that I put on in Jan. 2003 and have over a thousand hours on it without ever missing a beat. No failure of any kind and self maintained since new.

Let us know how the 175 does. Great endorsement on the 140.
