Title: Gelcoat - Deck Rebuild
Post by: rhtrades on May 09, 2025, 09:04:06 AM
I'm at the stage of last coat of gel with wax to seal the non skid.

First photo is 3rd layer with using Total Boat Gelcoat...its a very bright white from factory.

2nd photo is 4th coat with non-skid additive.....i used "Marine Coat one" for this coat because i thought their factory white was  closer color to my boat's "white"...  but after applying, it looks  a bit beige.

I am debating now which Gelcoat to use for the final with wax.  Does anyone have good experience with Total Boat's Gelcoat?  Does it yellow after a while since it is very bright white?

Don't have an answer about the yellowing potential, but the slightly beige would be a lot easier on your eyes on a sunny day.

applied final coat of gel with added wax yesterday afternoon...temp was high 50's.  i put a head gun to it immediately after since the temps would be low 40's last night.

Its about 73F. the high today, sun hitting boat directly and it is still slightly tacky.  Should i wait it out another day or is there something wrong?
