Hello, New member here. I hope I'm posting in the correct location. Here's my story. The other night on a whim, I placed a bid on a boat auction. I got up the next day to find out I won the dam thing. Nobody else bid against me. The boat was in the next town over so I figured what the hell. It was acharity type auction, proceeds going to charity. The auction was for a 22-2 CCP, 22 ft. When I arrived at the location to pick up the boat I noticed the hull tag has 250-CCP O-B on it. See attached photos. I'm a bit confused, this is my first experience with Aquasport. What model do I now own. It's in my driveway lol.. Any info or applicable web pages or relevant info would be great. Some specs on the boat:
Hull is solid, no rot or soft floors or transom. ( Owner was a meticulous older gentlemen)
Motor (Suzuki DT200), good compression across the cylinders, good spark, a bit rough looking, needs cleaning and, paint etc.. (Owner reports it as running well)
Bottom paint, definitely needs a refresh.
Steering is not functioning. Owner supplied all parts but isn't sure what's gong on.
Trim not functioning, (Figure low on fluid but ???)
Trailer, aluminum, venture dual axle. Needs some work but it got me home.
I bid $1800 and won.

Looks like you got a heck of a deal. Congrats. What year? Here is a link to a '84 Dealer promotion ad https://classicaquasport.com/gallery/data/573/68AS_factory_to_dealer_promo_letter_broch_5_1984.jpg

It's a 1987. OB motor Looks to be original. The seller's attorney told him to donate it and get the deduction. The charity gave him a reciept for 10K for the deduction. Nobody else bid and nobody seemed interested. I was sort of leary, like everyone knew something I didn't. I have the title for both the boat and trailer in hand.

Is it just me or does everybody over power the 250 CCP. It's rated for 300 HP and it seems like evryone is doing twin 200's or higher. I'm not a marine engineer but that kind of weight definitely has a negative effect on CoG. Would insurance cover a claim on a boat that is over powered? They seem to like to find every detail to skate on claims?

The few 250 CCPs I've seen have still had the original 150 mercs on them.
